goon noun \ ˈgün \ Definition of goon 2a: a man hired to terrorize or eliminate opponents Watching the Mavericks games it came to my attention that championship aspiring teams will often hire a goon to try and take out the oppositions best player. We saw this with GSW with Zaza who was replaced by Draymond. Zaza took out Kawhi and Draymond injured Harden by going for his eyes on 2 occasions. He did the same to Lebron so this was a tactic and not an accident. In game 5 Marcus Morris went for Luka's sprained left ankle, game 6 he got ejected for a blatant chop to Luka's neck. My question is who is worried the same fate will befall Harden or Russ. It seems this is not going to go away and is an effective strategy whether we like it or not.
they try to take out Harden’s ankles every postseason watch out for Chris Paul in game 6...he has no shame with his dirty play against the Lakers, watch out for Danny Green going into Harden’s landing space
Been watching Greeb for years. He’s not a dirty player. Glass walls(The Lakers best player is the most fragile player outside of KP and second best is 34 years old) don’t want stone wars. Harden is made of rubber and Russ is tough as it get. Not worried about Lakers playing dirty. Now if we were playing g GSW sure.
Indeed. Spoiler Clippers has a goon squad. Lakers I think is more like the rest of league. But on the topic, is there an answer? Most camera angles in a NBA playoff game is already covered. But they seemed to be allowed unless it is the most egregious of offense. By the time Morris was gone; series was done. Mavs eliminated. Are there things that Refs can review outside what's already there? Do Rockets get their own goon? No one wants players to get injured. Respect and sportsmanship. But easier for us to say and hard for players to face if the other team is allowed to go dirty. The key is to get the right calls. Maybe not easy. Don't call on the tic tac fouls, don't fall for the flops. But catch the serious plays that are dirty. Severe enough to get them out of games. Schroder and CP3 should not be playing game 6, after their shenanigans.
Marcus wouldn’t do that to Harden. Maybe Jamychal Green, he did Capela dirty early in the season. Maybe Dwight on the Lakers would try a dirty foul. Unrelated but isn’t it crazy years ago (Phoenix days) production wise Markieff was considered the better player and now it’s not even close how Marcus is the better player.
Meh. Wasn’t that dirty. No one would care If that happened to Harden. Luka shooting off dirty elbows on every drive too.
Is it official, is he suspended for game 1 of the upcoming series? Growing up in the 70's, 80's, and even early 90's when real men played ball I can certainly appreciate strong man play and hard fouls. The game has evolved so much and is more skill based now and with technology also evolving Adam Silver should take a hard look at trying to deter this, especially in the playoffs. They have so much high quality video now it is pretty easy to determine content. Draymond's eyes looking right at a dudes ball bag, mouth watering and them BOOM! That is intent!
Not to nit, but Lebron is 35... and a couple months from 36. Also, c'mon Davis is great, but he's no LeBron to that team, even at this age... Not in the playoffs (and the numbers so far back that up).
