It might have been a challenge for the Lakers if he hadn't gotten hurt. They aren't good enough without him, by any means.
At this point it just seems that 7'3+ guys aren't meant to play basketball. Most of them are riddled with injuries throughout their careers.
True, but he's like in that 5% that are the exception to the rule. Mostly if you're 7'3 and have any semblance of athleticism the odds are stacked very much against you. That being said, it may still be worth it. If you make it to the NBA and end up riddled with injuries, by that point you're already set for life financially. So it might still be better than most other jobs.
I can see KP changing his playing style later in his career. Maybe even giving up as a focal point in an Offense. Luka is on the Rookie contract, they can still sign a 3rd Allstar to take the load off.
Not exactly. They are roughly 8M under the cap, and that's if the cap isn't reduced like most projections predict. Year after that Luka is on a team option but I imagine they would lock him up versus letting him go to free agency. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
