This is just the beginning and I fear that it will get much worse before it gets better. The next 6 months are going to be scary. ”We're gonna fly a lot of flags half mast.” - G Wash
all the way from illinois with a lethal weapon and what else weapons and how much ammo did he bring he sure didn't goo all the way there to just counter protest
Kenosha is right on the IL/WI border and the dude lived in Antioch, IL (I believe). That’s maybe a 30 drive. It’s probably less than half the drive from Beaumont to Lake Charles. I’m only offering this as perspective because I lived in Kenosha when I was in the military and my ex-wife’s family lives in Lake County. I lived in this area for 5+ years. It’s bananas to see all of this going on.
From the video we can see that first guy he shot chasing him then throwing an object at him - IDK what that object was but he continues to chase him after that. What is he going to do once he catches him ? Give him a hug and kiss ?! I think it's fairly reasonable to believe that he had nefarious intentions - He was gonna harm him in one way or another. The guy with the skateboard ... He not only hit him with the skateboard but tried to take his weapon as well - If you watch the video closely you can see he had ahold of the weapon and is pulling away it until he's shot. The third guy ... He had a weapon pointed in his direction. Pretty self explanatory why he got shot.
There's something a bit sociopathic about making a "funny" meme of someone being murdered. Especially with the poster who posted it, clearly defending the shooter at every step since the killings. Or maybe my humor just isn't edgy enough on this topic. I think the majority of police brutality protestors have become "evil rioters" in some people's minds to where things like this don't seem so sad. Maybe I'm not giving enough benefit to doubt, but there's a good chance those guys showed up that night with a mindstate of standing up for injustice, and ended up getting their lives ended by a guy looking to illegally impose authority with an assault rifle. I don't know the entire story of how the guys ended up entangled, but I can say If I showed up to peacefully protest injustice in my community, and I saw people there with AR's in opposition to my protest, I would be enraged. Those guys carrying AR's around that protest is a threat to end the lives of the protestors if they so choose, which is ultimately what ended up happening. This country's gun laws is absolutely mental. There is no reason for people to be carrying guns like that in public, and if those stupid ass cops would have done their job and enforced what little rules we do have, and checked if that kid was legally carrying, instead of thanking him, 2 people wouldn't have been murdered that night.
At 17 I'm concerned about trying him as an adult but if he was one, this is obvious manslaughter to me. Go into protests and riots of a cause you are vehemently against and trying to add fuel to the fire by showing up with a open carry firearm knowing it's going to rile up people. It would be like those people driving though protests that blocked a intersection not because it was necessary for them to go to point A to point B but rather because they wanted to be involved in the culture wars and rile up protestors because they don't like the protestors by driving through them antagonizing them to the point where a shootout happens and a protestor is shot because the irresponsible hot head driver who wanted to prove a point felt threatened and shot at the angry mob. They purposefully increased tensions resulting in people dying which would be manslaughter.
Accept it isn't against the law to travel across state lines with a long gun. https://www.nraila.org/articles/201... certain domestic violence restraining orders.
Start with the bold - the group stated that they were in favor of the cause of the protests. They were not in favor of destruction of property. From what I understand , their mission was two fold - To protect the protesters from law enforcement and to protect property. This can clearly be heard in the first video - the one with "shoot me N***a." And really irrelevant if he was against the protests - they have the same right to be there as the protesters in that case.
I think this one is fairly uniform state to state - If you are in commission of or fleeing a CRIME you can't claim self defense. If you are the "aggressor" you can't claim self defense. From the video , its pretty clear that Rittenhouse was FLEEING the aggressor and was not committing nor fleeing a "Crime". The sketchy part here is him being under age in possession of a weapon.
It's coming out that the kid was active in right wing social media and that his school peers thought he was the next active shooter and was obsessed with "owning the libs". He was obsessed with trashing groups like BLM. You think someone like him going there helps? Having people like him flock to these areas is like trying to dose a chemical fire with water. He didn't come there to help. He came there to have a high horse boner. I know exactly the type of people who go there with open carry and none of them go in good faith with a sincere concern for business owners. They go there because they are knee deep in the culture wars and hate the urban black community. If he was an adult I would expect manslaughter conviction as he purposefully increased tensions that led to two deaths. It doesn't help that cops told him not to go back and he did which shows that even the cops that were on his side thought he was more of a nuisance. Don't be naive and believe that the narrative that they go there because they "care about minority business owners" is anywhere near sincere. These people hate urban black culture. They hate BLM. They are knee deep in right wing social media and again they are like dumping water on a chemical fire. If you think these people are helping in any way shape or form I urge to to have just an ounce of intellectual curiosity on this matter rather than knee jerk defending the kid because he more closely aligns with your views.
The following really helps Rittenhouse's case for self defense - Dude was trying to take his gun. No telling what would have happened had he been successful.
Legit question here - In what world does someone square up against a dude with a gun and not try to knock the gun away? That's not really a new development that suddenly helps, everybody chasing after him was always trying to get the gun out of his hands. The question is did he point it at someone first before the videos started. What led up to the initial chase. Because if he did point his gun at someone first before being attacked, it's not self-defense for the person with the gun. Like a jogger, if someone points a gun at me (shows intent to kill me), I'm naturally going to try to get the gun out of their hands before they kill me, and if they shoot me it's murder, not self defense, the unarmed man is the one acting in self defense in that scenario.
If he had any intention of shooting that guy he wouldn't have been running away from him .... He'd have just stood his ground and shot the guy. Instead , he fled until fleeing was no longer an option , then he shot him. As for what occurred prior to the chase - We'll have to wait and see if Rittenhouse somehow "provoked that guy." But if you watched those video's - That dude was the **** stirrer from the word go. What's really comical to me is that all this "protesting" is supposed to be about BLM but the vast majority of the people out there tearing up **** and all of those involved in this incident .... none of them black.
so, did they just threw the book at him for the heck of it or did they have evidences to file these charges?
That's federal laws. He's not dealing with a federal crime. The Wisconsin law is much more murky. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news...osha-protest-shooting-17-year-old/3444231001/ Just below that, it does say some exceptions exist, possibly for 16+ year olds to hunt. Illinois also that you need to carry a card as a fun owner, but you can't get one if you're under 21. I'm on my phone and I'm having trouble copying other parts of the article, unfortunately, but it's not so clear. I know I live in Pennsylvania and so does my brother in law. We have open carry. He usually drives through New York for a few miles to come to my house. When we want to shoot skeet at my house, or anything similar, he has to avoid New York because of a lack of open carry. There's a lot of other factors at play, is my point.[/Quote]
