Imagine being such a poor law enforcement leader that you have to rely on chubby, uncoordinated teen boys and their moms to assist your LEOs during a riot.

Jacob Blake handcuffed to hospital bed, father says

When Jacob Blake’s father visited him in the hospital Wednesday, he said his son was handcuffed to the bed.

“I hate it that he was laying in that bed with the handcuff onto the bed,” his father, also named Jacob Blake, said Thursday.

“He can’t go anywhere. Why do you have him cuffed to the bed?”

Blake had another question about his son, as well: What was he arrested for?

The younger Blake, 29, was shot multiple times by police Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is paralyzed from the waist down. The younger Jacob Blake told his father he thought he could feel pain in his legs, but his father isn’t sure if the pain is actually coming from his legs.

The Kenosha Police Department, Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Justice all did not immediately respond to requests for information on his arrest or charges.

Jacob Blake’s father said he hasn’t heard from the police department or Mayor John Antaramian, though Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has reached out, he said. The mayor’s office didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

At a news conference later Thursday, Evers was asked if he’s concerned about Blake being handcuffed.

    “Hell yes,” Evers said.

“I would have no personal understanding why that would be necessary,” he added. “I can’t imagine why that’s happening and I would hope that we would be able to find a ... better way to have him get better and recover.”

The family’s attorney is working to ensure Jacob Blake can go home once he’s released from the hospital, his father said.

When Blake saw his father in the hospital Wednesday, he thought he was hallucinating because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing, according to his father.

“I told him, ‘You thought Daddy wasn’t going to see my son?’” his father said. “He grabbed my hand, held it real tight and started weeping, telling me how much he loved me.”

Though his son’s eyes were swollen, the elder Jacob Blake said he “looked and sounded like” his son, and he’s alive. Seeing him in the hospital was like walking across a desert to find someone waiting with a glass of water, his father said.

“It was way more than fulfilling,” his father said. “It was a feeling I can’t describe.”

She needs to be arrested as well.

I've said this before in the Karen threads and I'll say it again here, white men control your white women.

Just watched the video for the first time. Those officers (or are they former officers) were grossly incompetent. I'm assuming Mr. Blake was detained...if that's the case that is the worse detainment I've ever seen. They literally allowed him to walk away because they were too soft.....and then swung to the other extreme by shooting him in the back 7 times when he reached in the vehicle! This was all so easily avoidable if they had just followed (or developed?) some very simply SOPs.

Do they really just let anybody be a police officer nowadays?

I’m looking for confirmation, but haven’t found any yet. People are circulating that pic on Twitter claiming it’s his mom, but I can’t just take their word for it.

You're welcome. If you don't mind, if you see people spreading this false information elsewhere, intentionally or not, please correct them. Whatever one feels about whether the police action was justified, we should all be operating on actual facts to draw those conclusions.

Since we're talking about the African American view, the culture of violence began amongst warring African tribes. These tribes could not resolve any issues so invaders were able to easily bribe the leaders to sell out their own brethren. It infuriates me as well, but you have to let the hate for Africa go and make the best of the many opportunities America has to offer. All you have to do is hold yourself and your community accountable, pretty simple. But as we see with the Jussie Smollet culture, it doesnt exist.

I have empathy for the man as obviously seeing a distrusted son is something that I'm sure is extremely unsettling but I just have to wonder how poor of a father he is to allow his 17 year old son to go to a place where rioting and looting is happening with a rifle. He's 17. His father still has a responsibility to oversee his activities at that age.

Slavery was black people’s fault. Wow, that’s a new one. You have to be a complete and utter sack of **** to victim blame for slavery.

I have a knife in my car all the time. It’s a tool. Yea, I know you don’t know either - if the cop that shot him 7 times in the back knew he was reaching for the knife, the size of the knife and imagine the knife can shoots deadly tiny little knives in a backward motion toward him.

Aww, you keep on defending the guy who beat his kids, wife, and raped a 14 year old. Class Act.

and by all picture evidence it appears he had the knife on him when the cops had guns pointed at him.

This happens in every culture throughout history. Greeks, Roman's, English, etc.

Must explain America's propensity towards violence. Must be a human type problem?

What does one man's history have to do with proper training and behavior by public employees with a badge?

A man’s prior history is why records are kept. Is the cop going to be more on alert with a former armed robbery felon? Yes. He’s going to be prepared, as this person in the past has shown tendencies to disregard others lives. Why do people struggle understanding that? Is a cop
More likely to give a ticket to someone whose had several speeding tickets in the past? Yes.

People keep coming at the cops, but fail to hold Blake accountable for what he did. Prior to going to car he was fighting with the police and had a knife on him. He was rightfully shot.

this is a great opportunity for America to show the youth on what not to do in these situations. If cops are “out to get you” then why are you putting yourself more at risk by not complying? If he complied he wouldn’t he strapped in a hospital bed right now.
