Again, I do hold a bias against LeBron and that bias takes me places that may be erroneous. But that bias has also led me to analyze the heck out of LeBron and I am always willing to acknowledge how incredible he is while also seeing his faults. I have concluded that the way this entire situation played out, where he basically became a peripheral player, upset him to the point of storming out of a meeting and threatening to take his ball and go home. I just can't see a smart guy like Morey not having the foresight to know what publicly supporting Hong Kong would do to his team's relationship with China, that he himself was there to build, and the NBA's relationship with China. As I said, I don't know why he would do it, but he did it. I guess there is a chance that he just made a mistake in judgment, but I think there's a better chance that he knew what would happen.

I think that LeBron ultimately does whatever Nike and the NBA tell him to do. Speaking up against China would hurt Nike and the NBA, so he didn't do it. Speaking up for BLM would help Nike and the NBA, so he does it. They convince him that doing what is being asked of him will earn him the most money and fame and will give him the best chance of overthrowing the real king of the NBA, GOAT Jordan. What he really wants is to one day overtake Jordan who he viewed as a father figure growing up. That is his obsession and he's willing to be pimped out by others if it helps him achieve his goal. There's something Freudian that comes to mind when I think of the way LeBron viewed Jordan growing up, how Jordan has kinda rejected him over the years, and how LeBron desperately wants to be considered the better of the two.
NBA minimum is 700k? I am sure Dort makes more than 150K. Sure, some players would be affected less than some others in the NBA by this, and hence they would look at the potential financial losses. If he composed the tweet himself, I might agree. It was just a retweet. I think he underestimated how sensitive Chinese basketball fans would be about it. It's an easy mistake to make, if his exposure is mainly to more liberal-minded Chinese people and people who are sympathetic to the rights of Hong Kong people. That's why I cut him some slack about it -- people calling him ignorant or selfish were out of line -- but at the same time I get why players would be upset that he wasn't more careful because it did significantly impact them.

They're emotional. There are logical, rational players among them, but they are drowned out by the players wondering things like why what they've done at the bubble hasn't been the catalyst for change that they somehow brought themselves to believe it would be. Based on them agreeing to come back with more ways to make more statements, emotionality won out.
