Kenosha police shoots black man multiple times in his back in front of his children, declares curfew

Does anyone in here know what resisting arrest is?

He got shot because he did something stupid.

Y’all go on and blame the cops all you want, but Mr Blake wouldn’t have gotten Lieutenant Danned if he just complied with the officers who had already tried to taser him.

 

But, he didn't have to shoot him in the back 7 times! He could have tackled him before he got to the car. If he felt such a need to shoot he should have just shot him in the leg.

 

He had a knife...

 

Guess they needed Bruce Lee or a Navy Seal to knock it out.

 

He had an AR-15.

 

In a hasty confession, the gunman appears to be heard saying, “I just killed somebody.”

In the same moment from a different angle, Good Samaritans are tending to a man who has been shot in the heard. As witnesses try to keep that man alive, Rittenhouse is apparently seen running down the street and gets noticed.

He is taken to the ground, and then fires his weapon at attackers. Another person appears to be shot by his long gun.

This time, police attended to the injured while the gunman kept walking – backward now, inching toward authorities at the end of the street as onlookers flagged him to police.

“Hey, he just shot them! Hey, dude right here shot them! Dude right here shot all them down there!” someone is heard saying.

With blue gloved hands in the air and the gun around his chest, the brigade member who was thanked at the start of the night was given safe passage past police. He was not stopped and cuffed, but was allowed to exit with only this warning: “You with the long gun – don’t come down here. This is closed.”

Everyone gets that: Follow orders, exactly, no missteps, and you don't have to worry about being killed. You really don't see a problem with that? People make mistakes in judgment, especially when under extreme stress (such as, for instance, being threatened with arrest and years of jail time or being being tasered). The fact that the response from many to this is simply "Well, tough ****, then you may die and its your own fault." is exactly the problem. We should value human life more than that.

 

The issue isn’t them shooting him once he opens the vehicle. The issue is they just let him walk all around the car, stop and open the door and then shot him... it was the actions leading up to him reaching in the car that is the problem.

 

We don’t know the outcome, the officer well could end up spending years in prison.

 

Exactly. I hate to say it but it looked like laziness. They let this guy walk all the way around the front of the car, the side of the door... he then stops and opens the door... while three cops stand there... and then unload at least 7 shots into his back while his kids are feet away.

The officer that went around the back had time to lock the doors if he wanted, he could have blocked the door... They could have rammed him when he stopped to open the door.... he isn’t a big guy either. I hate to say it, but it looked like they were lazy... let him do something to justify shooting him and call it a day.

 

Only one cop shot all 7 shots, that tell you something as well.

 

Kenosha sheriff rant in 2018 about Black people who shoplifted: “Maybe what we’ve got to do is build warehouses ... and when they have perished in these buildings, we can turn them into something else. We have to get rid of these people.”

Blake was not carrying a knife as he walked around his vehicle. After the incident, law enforcement agents found a knife on the driver’s side floorboard.

 

There's a picture where he has something in his hand that kinda looks like a knife, but is more than likely a key for his car. That may be where @tmacfor35 is getting that. Also, Blake admitted he had a knife in his possession before the shooting. I was not sure what "possession" means in this case. On his person or in his car? I now think it meant in his car because the object in his hand could have been the type of key that car uses and that is where the knife was recovered. Just an FYI for you and @tmacfor35 .

 

Thank you for the additional information. Like you, I’m inclined to believe the knife Blake said he possessed was the one in his vehicle. Otherwise, the stories about the incident would all have mentioned that Blake was armed as he walked around the vehicle. The law enforcement officials interviewed would not have left that detail out because it makes the actions of the officers on the scene seem more justified.
