they aren’t. Just as I don’t think most people who voted for Hillary (or will vote for Biden) are Marxist, anti-Christian, America hating thieves and rioters.

    But believe what you want.

It depends on the region. A republican Californian will have different positions than a republican from West Virginia.

Definitely makes demonizing a national team a tricky sport, but even mountains can crumble under a steady stream.

dude. I’m the guy not voting for trump that you’re supposed to be convincing to join your side.

if you say all my MAGA friends and family are racist bigots, I’m very likely going to think you’re insane and I’ll vote for Trump to avoid you gaining power.

that is a huge chunk of the right at the moment. Not some huge MAGA pep rally, but a belief that the far left can’t be trusted.

I never said all, I said a sizeable portion...there is no debating that, period

many MAGA people are exactly what I just described, don’t even try to act like that’s not the case

good point. Just as a Midwest democrat isn’t the same as a west coast democrat. Far more differences and varieties than we want to accept.

What about Trump has been anywhere near normal?

I erroneously thought would push left after 2016 because he had a chance to grow his support but he isolated further why would he push left now when he has demonized democrats the entire 4 years and is currently upping the anti?

    I don't understand your logic.

Apparently Republicans do not hold any other opinions than those of Trump, and the real irony is, he's not close to anything we've ever called Republican.

Trump is actively in court now trying to do away with ACA, he actively tried mass deportation and the courts stopped him.

Are you really this out of touch?

Again, there isn’t any sizable collection of racist neonazis in the Republican Party...lol. At least no more than there are Marxist segregationists in the democrat party. That’s a conspiracy theory and no undecided voters believe that.

Overall, if we estimate the raw totals using these percentages while working off of Trump’s nearly 63 million votes and Clinton’s almost 66 million votes, the ANES data suggest that about 8.4 million 2012 Obama voters backed Trump in 2016 and 2.5 million Romney voters supported Clinton.[1]

However, as we pointed out above, there are reasons to be skeptical of reported past vote. Overall, 58% of respondents to the 2016 ANES who said they voted in 2012 (including those who didn’t vote in 2016) claimed to have voted for Obama, seven points more than the 51% Obama actually won in 2012. Meanwhile, Romney only won 40% of the vote of those who said they cast a ballot in 2012, seven points fewer than the 47% Romney really won in 2012. Although there may have been a sizable number of voters who cast ballots in 2012 but didn’t vote in 2016 and vice versa, it would not be surprising if Obama’s percentage were somewhat inflated and Romney’s a bit diminished. This would be due to some of the complications associated with voter recall of past votes. If so, this would mean the 8.4 million Obama 2012-Trump 2016 figure is exaggerated, while the 2.5 million Romney 2012-Clinton 2016 figure is probably too small. Still, the weighted ANES data slightly undershot Trump’s 46% of the popular vote and overshot Clinton’s 48%, so that could mean the data aren’t especially exaggerated.

Here is the real self sabotage: the GOP Brand on the whole is better liked and trusted than Trump. Trump is historically unpopular outside of his core 40% of the electorate. Knowing that why would you willing destroy your own party for a family that has shown no willingness to govern.

Trump is clearly neither a politician nor leader. He is a spoiled rich boy from New York who ruins what he touches. Trump has no idea how to spin the truth, so he resorts to lying about everything no matter how small. From crowd sizes and hurricane trajectories to the American COVID-19 response and declaring fraud in our elections including the one where he won! And when it’s pointed out he is lying or was wrong he doubles down on his stupid lies. Remember when he got all the CEOs together and the CEOs kissed his ring and said they were going to do all these amazing things (which they didn’t). Or remember when he kept insisting hydroxychloriquine was a magic bullet even after the data showed it wasn’t? Or when he said let’s test less so we have fewer cases?

If you’re a Republican donor, how can you not look at this and take the L to save your party.

No way he move left. He's in it for the power and the only way for more power is to become more fascist and his enablers in the GOP will not stand in his way as he destroys our democracy.
