I don't want this to be misconstrued as me saying that he should have taken those shots. I don't think he should. But that being said, according to NBA.com, James Harden shoots 36.5% (104-285) on 3 pointers >=27 feet. If you change that to >=29 feet it goes to 29.6% (21-71). So while I agree with you that he shouldn't be taking those shots in those spots, lets not act like these are shots he can't make. He's not chucking up shots with no chance to go in. These aren't 10% shots for him.

 

They are 10% shots at the end of games and in the playoffs when his legs are tired and he's well short with little to no lift off the ground.

I could find you any stats about it and you could tell me that it doesn't count because he's not tired or it doesn't count because he has lift or whatever else you want to come up with. I mean he does have a significant dip in 3 pt percentage from the regular season to the playoffs year in and year out except in 2015 and I'm sure they get proggesively worse in the 4th quarter as long heaves need good legs that aren't tired after playing 35 minutes.
