Even if the NBA season was cancelled and there was a huge $ loss, it would still pale compared to the $ at stake that these billionaire owners have tied with their political influences that concerns their MAIN business.

Who's owner main business and most profit comes through the NBA?
    The Lakers?

Also no amount of pressure they can put on is going to change the attitude of american society.
Here there are so many posters excusing and justifying police brutality like it is normal.

It seems that americans regard policemen becoming executioners without a trial as normal.
It didnt happen overnight and it will not change overnight either.

    Yes.
Also players from other teams who disagree are free to leave.

But that would be a complete failure from the NBPA.

On the other hand, if the playoffs are cancelled most of the players in and OUT of the bubble will be taking a huge financial loss next season and may lose up to 1/3 of their income.
The roleplayers, the bench warmers and the g-leaguers who are most of the players on the roster. And most of the votes in the NBA union too.

The Bubble games are different. Players were given permission to voluntarily leave whenever they wanted. The normal CBA rules don’t apply in that case, I believe.

They either are playing by the end of the week or this season is over. There is not going to be a prolonged strike with continuation after. The logistics just don't allow for it. It's already a tight window to finish out the season.

Today is the day we should know if the games will continue or not. The reason the Lakers and Clippers are voting to leave is because they want the owners to feel the threat to the season and their pockets is real. Will anything change? I'm guessing yes. The owners will not be willing to call their bluff and they will make a drastic move to ensure that the players feel their voices are heard.

Good for the players for believing in something. A t-shirt or kneeling was cute but if they want to really change the world, something more drastic was needed. This isn't going to cure racism, it's not going to stop police officers from killing innocent people because they are not trained nor vetted properly, but it will get the owners to open their check books and use the connections for something good. Tilman was literally on tv two months ago sucking off the president, so we know he has the ability to get his ear.

because it is tone deaf to do so right now
, money is tertiary to the social issues.

people want to discuss the social side no one cares if billionaires have to fight over money.

No they aren’t, the NBA gave all players the right to opt out at any time.

"Tone deaf" during a political conversation is usually code for "you must feel the same emotionally about this issue as I do". Fortunately everyone is different and has different perspectives.

All good, let the Lakers and Clippers leave then. Sounds like not really just the Lakers and Clippers, but probably just the really rich Lakers and Clippers, who don't have much to lose. I don't have an issue with that, their choice (and don't want to hear any complaints from those who merely followed...also their choice), but does LeBron dictate what other teams do? I sure hope not.

Might be interesting to see how the Mavs react to this. The Clippers leaving would be a big boon to them, they aren't that affected by the BLM concerns, and they could really use the momentum a playoff run would entail.

Also the Rockets. They really need a deep playoff run, don't they? And removing their main competition (assuming they can actually get past the Thunder) would benefit them tremendously.

it's noteworthy that it's the Lakers and Clippers driving this, and not the Bucks (the team most immediately impacted, geographically)

I know, but it would be very fitting, actually a good way to enact real change, and probably pretty humbling for them (that's the part they wouldn't like)

Anybody know if Shaq has spoken out on this? He actually had done the police thing...would be very interesting to hear his take.

that's what the D&D is for though.

This is the GARM , which has turned into the D&D.

I still will talk about about the money situation , which doesn't mean i'm insensitive to the social issues.

This section is for the ROCKETS.

The country will definitely recover, at least on this issue. It isn't reliant on fan interest. Also, the vast majority of people are for equal treatment. The issue isn't divisive if you take politics out of it.

The bigger problem in a nutshell. Lots of people look to sports to get away from all that other stuff. That we're discussing them here, and many, like you, wish we weren't, is an example of what the league may face if they get too involved in the non sports aspects. Not to mention criticism of the things they do take stances on, vs the things they don't (ie, China).

I can talk about the Rockets money situation in the GARM cause that's the right place for it
and all the social injustice incidents in the D&D

Also money is obviously a giant issue , which is the reason why all these sports are being played.
It's not the love of the game.

And NOBODY has told why it's ok to talk about the financial impact kept everyone in the NBA's mouth shut.
forced James Harden to apologize, because Morey made a tweet about Hong Kong.
    @ashleyem

You know what the topic is for this thread?
[Poll] Bubble trouble - is the season over?

NOT - You must talk about the social aspect of the police shooting
There's a thread for that, in the D&D

So Kiss My 99er Ass (those who want to censor people on the topic)
