Please don't let the fielding dumb****ery be contagious today, since they started it. Anti-yesterday. Please. This is very Mariner so far this series (hat tip @Joe Joe)
Astros = Patriots Athletics = Dolphins (the only rival that regularly wins) Angels/Rangers/Mariners = Jets/Bills (trash) This year you could flip the top two but you get the point. AL West is the AFC East of baseball.
Why the hell did Mike Trout sign that extension to be with these losers? I get it, they drafted him, they were the ones who developed him and tapped into his full potential, yadda yadda yadda. But for every move they've made to try and get help around him, they make two boneheaded moves that set them back further. Not complaining since it helps us, but unless something changes he may eventually grow frustrated and demand a trade.
According to what I've read...he loves it there, his family loves it there, he's not a "big city" guy and does not want all the attention he should/would get with the Yanks/Dodgers/etc. Ownership promised him to get a better team on the field, and he said "ok, still pay me". The Pujols contract is one of the worst in MLB history. They still owe him ~60M over the next 2 years, iirc. Think of what they could have done for that team with all that money.
Understandable. And I'm certainly FAR from a big city guy myself and would NOT be happy in LA or the East Coast. He must find his team's situation frustrating though. Not a fan of super long term deals, they can really bite you back near the end. No way is Pujols worth what his contract is at this point of his career. As an Astros fan, I really need to watch him against other teams to completely appreciate and understand how good Trout is. We're actually one of the teams he's struggled against the most. Only the Dodgers have done a better job containing him. Twins and Tigers are the next two behind us (per Baseball Ref).
Well certainly can't fault the guy for not just blatantly ring chasing and wanting to get something going without going to a super team. However, I think with 400 million he'll be ok too. Just might not be a ring w/ the Angels anytime soon.
Goddammit @bobrek (or whoever it was talking about J.Castro) Dude just sheared one off the handle for a soft RBI single.
