of course, Russ does half the heavy lifting that James does during the game. Same for everyone else you seem to adore during an inbounds, every guy whom YOU think is "better" than Harden in this area has 10X more help during a game.

James was ****ing spent last game SPENT .. nobody stepped up to help him and AGAIN he kept this team in it SINGLE HANDEDLY and what does he get?? More slander from "fans"

    SMH.

I bet my left nut if we did a calorie burn counter per game, Westbrook would burn more calories than Harden. Westbrook is far more aggressive and runs a lot more throughout the game than Harden. Being tired isn't an excuse. Harden just settles and stands there like a sloth hoping the refs bail him out. It's a bad look and it's a detriment to the team's late game situations for multiple reasons. How many times have we turnover the ball because we wasted half of possessions trying to dump the ball to Harden because he just stands around?

This presumes the defense will change the way they defend him if he starts taking those midrange shots, which is only true if he can make them at a high rate. I don't know that I agree.

the points per possession on Harden 3s and layups may not be the same over the course of a game - tighter defense end of game will drop the efficiency of these possessions. If they do so drastically enough, then the midrange option becomes a viable alternative.

Dort isn't the first or the last "Harden stopper". Doris kept insisting they not help Dort because he could take Harden on his own which he can't. Harden backed him down and just shot it over him.

I just find it a little funny that we have a player that is so gifted offensively that making an entire defensive scheme around stopping him results in him only averaging 32.

Reminds me of when people used brooms to practice against Watt in his prime.

I’m sorry but this is a bunch of ****. This has been a Harden staple since 2015. He is very weird on inbound plays. The games on the line, you are a professional athlete. There is NO possible way you can’t muster up the energy to run for 5 seconds to get yourself free. He chooses not to do it. He chooses to engage his defender vs running to get open. We don’t need to make excuses for him and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that he still has things he can work on and control.

Repeating this in multiple threads does not make it any less a lie.

Repeating "it's a lie" doesn't make it any less true.

Westbrook has been in Houston less than a single season.

Harden has been a Rocket for 8 seasons.

Do you see the failure in logic here?

This is true, and a good point. I don't want to make it sound like I think he should never take them, I just don't like the comparison of people putting him in the same category as the guys who are actually good at these shots, like KD/Steph/Kawhi/CP3/etc. It's not like Harden is a guy who hits close to 50% and the rockets made him stop just because they don't like midrange shots. I think it's a common misunderstanding.

Dort has played pretty good defense on Harden but James has also just missed some open shots. He’s not a “stopper” by any means. I would assume Harden will start to hit these shots at his normal clip

    Then support your truth.

Covington has been a Rocket for 20 games, show all of us multiple examples that support your contention that Harden is so incompetent during inbounds plays that RoCo is forced to take all the clutch shots.

You love to disparage Trump but your methods of talking something into reality by repeating it ad nauseam are exactly the same.

I’d say he is stopping him driving out of isolation, he’s not beating him off the dribble. As for hitting a step back 3 on him, it’s kinda hard to tell cause Harden can just hit that whatever the defender is doing. I wouldn’t call them ‘open’ by any means, but they are shots he makes for sure. It’s kind of impossible for me to tell if Dort made him miss a 3 in his face, when Harden takes that shot over every defender in the league, y’know? Like, does he even care where the defender is?

The shots he missed that really need to go in are the 2 or 3 he got with separation off a screen

Harden is better offensive player than anyone on the planet. He got better when he got rid of his midrange. So no.

Agree with this over the course of an 82 game season, but playoffs you have to be able to adjust and have a versatile enough game to take what the defense gives you and keep the defense honest. He has not been the best offensive player in the playoffs the last couple of years despite his improvements at the 3 point line.
