I only read the title but .... 1- in an emergency - wasted resource at an attempt to save life is better than not enough resources. IOW, life is more important than resources 2- haven’t keep up with all the science here but I recall there was a shift away from vent with better understanding of this virus, that it attacks the whole body and not primarily the lung and increased o2 was a better initial approach than putting someone on a vent ... IOW, uses of vent changes with better understanding

If everyone had the humility to wear a dog cone and look like an idiot for a couple of days this country would be a better place. Not that dog-cones probably do anything. But , i mean if we had the character to do that then the rest would be easy.
It's kind of weird. "Acceptable" for what exactly? Acceptable so that ... you can watch your job disappear too? It's not "acceptable" unless somehow that sacrifice of 175k Americans saved even more lives from something else.
Haven't been able to find verification of that strange claim, but I did find this sensible recent step from her. https://www.newscentermaine.com/art...esses/97-8687e714-d26f-4554-9861-d80dcfad2dde $200M in grants for small businesses and non-profits in her state.
I don't think there are specifics about what the inverted face shield is supposed to look like, but apparently the order is legit https://www.mainepublic.org/post/mi...tes-covid-19-prevention-checklists-businesses
Thank you. "For example, front-of-house staff in restaurants who choose to wear face shields must now wear them upside down so that they are attached at the collar instead of the forehead, so that their breath is directed up, not down." That does sound like a cone of shame, for lack of a better image. Very odd. I mean, I get the idea, but there's a real geometry problem if anyone cares to think this through.

"New Covid-19 Cases in U.S. Fall to Lowest Level in More Than Two Months": https://www.wsj.com/articles/coronavirus-latest-news-08-24-2020-11598258429?mod=hp_lead_pos3 excerpt: The number of new coronavirus infections in the U.S. declined from a day before, reaching its lowest level in more than two months and notching a ninth straight day with fewer than 50,000 new cases. The nation reported 34,567 new cases on Sunday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. That is down from 44,572 on Saturday and the lowest since June 22, when the U.S. reported 30,536 new cases. Total infections in the U.S. have now passed 5.7 million, nearly a quarter of the world’s roughly 23.42 million, according to Johns Hopkins data. More than 808,000 people world-wide have died, including more than 176,000 in the U.S.
35k daily is still too high but good downward trend see, concrete simple steps do work such as covid messaging, slowing down busn re-opening and extensive mask wearing due to local and state requirements DO work now, if only we move toward proactive “small” steps that are doable (continue masking, be careful with opening up busn too fast, still restrict indoor large gathering, rapid tests, rapid trace and isolate, ...) instead of hoping and wishing it away or promoting unproven cures, and if we don’t do stuff to create more problems (forcing school to reopen), we MAY get to a low enough level to handle the real 2nd wave that is likely this fall... I’m pessimistic we get to a low enough level ps. Caveat - I don’t trust the number as much now given the abrupt covid reporting changes by DHS a few weeks ago. Hope it’s accurate.
Well...the government went way overboard here in procuring ventilators. In the article, it says the US ordered double the amount of ventilators that were projected from the worst case scenarios. Now we have an overabundance of them and will probably watch as they degrade and become unusable over time (unless they can be sold...for probably less than they were made). Basically, poor acquisition management...not even about lives as we had plenty if they just bought enough for the worst-case scenario instead of doubling it.
lol thats the joke.. you trust the new numbers from trump? when its north of 150k no less. cooked numbers so what exactly are we talking about? good thing trump administration has been so trustworthy.
While some states get number from the fed gov, some also get it directly - so yes, I still have good trust in the numbers, just not as much as before the HHS abrupt change
good thing anything from white house is trustworthy. you said hope so lets hope. at this point we are arguing whether he was stabbed 22 times or 23.. semantics distract and dont change the colossal fail that is the entire trump admin and all with it. cooking numbers when we are at 150k dead
The Incompetent in Chief is kicking himself in the pants for not cooking the numbers sooner. Another Deep State Loss, I suspect.
' you know a lot of people tell me we are doing too much testing' it goes pretty nicely with the 'winging it' the whole 'its not so bad' shtick.notice even posters here are running. the plan is no plan and 'it will just disappear' ( per psychic in 2008)
