EGo has too many minutes and he cannot be secondary ball handler. Green needs to take more shots and be the 2nd ballhandler or primary when Harden sits. Good things happen whe Jeff has ball.
EG shoots 2 points is ok. Only 3 points are deteriorated from 3x percent to 2x percent especially playoff. If the matches are very close, those 2 or 3 points are important to win a match. I remember previous year, the 3 points are terrible and make Houston lose to warriors, but seems they still not yet get the lesson learned and continue to make the same mistakes.
His 3ball has been bad, but fewer minutes gives him fresher legs, more lift. Rewatch game 1 for an example. We can live with him shooting 3's around 33%. Anything less is a problem.
Jeff is good, we can win the next match after westbrooks returns, hope westbrooks is 100 percent healthy
Easily the 2nd best player so far. I fear he will drop off once he gets his money, and they have to give up a pick to get rid of it. This has been the narrative every year.
Just enjoy the ride while it lasts. To be honest I’m shocked/surprised (pleasantly) that he’s been this good for us for this long. Yes, only 21 games as a Rocket and no bad Jeff Green sighting is quite amazing. He’s been everything we expected and needed Covington to be and then some these last 3 games. Thank god for Uncle Jeff but the other guys need to step up ASAP. There should be no way a 34 year old journeyman that was originally picked up off the waivers to a 10 day contract that’s making under $700k should end up being the 2nd best player on the team for multiple games.
“We play loose, we play free,” Green told me. “The confidence that Coach D’Antoni has instilled in us is second to none.” “I work my butt off. I don’t go into anything half-assed. I try to do my best,” Green said. “Sometimes opportunities don’t go my way, sometimes they do. And I live with it.” How can anyone not love Green?
Great article. Rockets fans may not like all of the Ringer's opinions, but when they do a deep dive on a player, they do a great job.
Thanks for sharing! Excellent piece... Fun fact: Jeff Green was present at my proposal. (I proposed to my fiance at halftime of a Georgetown game vs. Howard U.... we both went to GU and she coordinated some half-time performances for our alma mater)
