Althouse is a dinosaur, he political views have been relevant in decades. She should vote Republican because that is essentially what she is at this point. Sometimes people’s views get left behind. She is no different than an FDR Democrat grumbling about Bill Clinton when he ran.

A little surprised at this. Is Trump not polling well in their districts, or ... is the unthinkable happening ... a politician who can speak the obvious and focus on the greater good? ... Must be the polling #s.

What I've heard from people in NB is that with it's split electoral college system Biden has a good chance of taking the Omaha district and getting one elector from NB.

Time to compare two leaders again.
One, an educated man, the other, just a con man who just thinks he's smart.

I'm listening to Trump talking about that he is only one standing in the way of anarchy and chaos echoing what he said 4 years ago. Yet there is more anarchy and chaos now. The smouldering ruins of Minneapolis happened while Trump was president not Biden.

Now I will agree under Federalism there is only so much a president can do but then that adds more to the emptiness of the threat that under Biden there will be anarchy and chaos in the cities when Trump supporters themselves argue that the President can't do much.

On the other hand wouldn't it be possible that the Democratic president will have a better working relationship with Democratic mayors rather than the current president that insults those mayors.

On Meet the Press they have a Republican strategist Jason Miller on talking about the RNC that it will be hopeful and uplifting. That is already undercut by Trump's message about anarchy and chaos. Also Miller is saying that the RNC will change the impression of who is supporting Trump and that people will be surprised who is supporting Trump. My guess is that they are going to make the RNC appear to be as diverse as the DNC and play up minority supporters. Look for more of Trump's "African-Americans".

Its a shame that people need to defend our democratic voting process against lies from the current president...

At the convention, Biden didn't even talk about the senseless looting and violence that's been ongoing since June. It's clear the liberals see it as beneficial to let it play out, even despite the fact that they're enabling beatings like the one Adam Haner took in Portland (say his name).

    Race riots and looting

The Antifa that the right fear so much ... will just disappear with a Biden’s presidency. They are a reaction TO Trump.

The race riots and looting is BOTH a reaction to local and federal actions. Local police unjust killing will continue so reaction to that part likely will not change. But a Biden’s AG would not push back, send troops, and would take actions to support reducing racial injustice means there is less riots and looting as a reaction to a federal gov that doesn’t care or worse, fight back (trumps and his AG).

to put it simply, Trump fuel the fire of racial injustice and violent reactions. Biden will take away the fuel, at min.

Did Trump talk about the thousands dying every week and what steps we should take, instead of promoting football starting up and throwing millions into schools right now? Did he talk about the senseless Maskless half a million bikers now spreading Covid-19 around the country? Did he talk about his choices of hirings all convicted of felonies?

the RNC will try. Will trump stays on message? Not in his nature.

but it’s also a bit too late. 3.5 years of red meat to the base as a norm of governing for trump isn’t going to be undo by a week of convention.

what they may have some success, maybe, at is to convince those ind that have already left or is on the fence that trump isn’t that bad, so come back home... if trump stays on message

Actually the US' covid results have been about in line with other developed nations, except for the unmitigated disaster that was NY-NJ-Connecticut. So your point about thousands dying every week is not very insightful.
