This should be urgent news every day.

I literally am at a loss. A generous recovery/rescue package is not only desperately needed, inherently good policy and the right thing to do but good for their political future. In the short term, like not the long term. Like, as in November. You don't think Susan Collins wouldnt be helped by ab extension of UI for laid off people in Maine's vacation industry, for example?

Is it really just to pwn the libs? There's no ideological win here, I mean if 4 years of Trump proves anything it's that ideology can be entirely discarded in service of a personality cult. And even the GOP ghoul interest groups like the us chamber of commerce want the government to rescue people.

I don't get the self immolation here

Might want to ask Nancy Pelosi why the House was brought back to session to deal with the postal / mail in ballot issue but refuses to do anything on the stimulus situation

You do realize they already put forward a stimulus package? Also, the election mail issue is time-sensitive.

House proposed their version in May. Senate didn't start until around 2 months later. House cut their package by 25-40%. Republicans said that was a non starter.

Over 100 democrats in the house urged her to pass a bill just for UI but she stated it wasn’t the right time.

I asked and she emailed me this?

Do Moscow Mitch, John Cornyn and Russia Ron Johnson need the Speaker to hold their peters while they urinate?

I don't really get why they always need the Speaker to bail them out, is it a competence thing or there's a 9 dimensional political win in being a Majority Leader who is powerless over his majority when it comes to doing the actual job part of being on the job

You both realize . I'm quite sure - unless you have been hiding under a rock …. That they loaded that bill with a bunch of crap , not for "the people" but their pet projects and corporations which is why it didn't go thru the Senate.

I know , somehow you will blame someone else.

She wanted all that garbage , not just money to the people who need it.

Point out the pet projects they loaded up the end of May bill with, please.

Here is what was in their May bill. Now... it is clearly arguable that they were asking for too much for some items, but i don't see any pet projects they are asking for.

    https://www.vox.com/2020/5/15/21258854/house-three-trillion-stimulus-bill

And also...two months for the senate to even start to come up with their own bill? That's ridiculous.

Nancy would say they passed a plan in May that Republicans in the Senate never brought up for a vote. Republicans unveiled a plan in late July that still hasn’t been brought to a vote because Trump said no and they’re still debating it. In the meantime, the Senate went on vacation. This is classic good job, good effort.

Looking at the price of Apple and Tesla, 2 non covid stocks, the problem is all these stimulus do is make the rich richer. American capitalism draws in too many people and lets them walk over whoever. Id rather focus on on curbing that abuse and any kind of market excess than blindly creating more debt.

The stock market is not an accurate reflection of the state of the economy at all. It is just the wealthy padding their stats, Harvard was getting stimulus money despite a 4 billion endowment, Kanye was getting stimulus money despite having a billion by selling hate, it's just the wealthy working the system over. Educate yourself.

Because they want to **** with the election and then claim Trump did what they are currently setting up. They know they are about to get their asses handed to them.

How about you educate yourself? The federal reserve has taken unprecedented action to juice the markets. If not for the intervention the numbers would be nowhere near what they are now. Socialism for the Wall Street and scraps for Main Street...

I think both parties were waiting to see consistency in the job and unemployment numbers one way or another to make a better decision. That hasn't really happened.
