You definitely should see it. Not just read or listen but actually see because Biden's expression and body language is very much what made it effective.

I will agree with Os that this speech and the convention as a whole was light on policy specifics but I think that was part of what made it effective. Bill Clinton was famous for long speeches with all sorts of policy. Elizabeth Warren has done sort of the same with "I have a plan for that". This speech wasn't really about specific plans but more about an overall direction and empathy. I think that was the right thing as I think it would've bogged down quite. The main argument for Joe Biden isn't what policies he's going to enact but more about what sort of tone is he going to set as President.

Some policy things that came out of it were for deploying rapid testing with same day results and a national mask mandate. He also talked about manufacturing more PPE here so we aren't dependent on the PRC. Listening to experts more and presenting honest information than wishing for miracles. He pushed for more infrastructure development along with providing clean water to every American community. Building on the ACA. He also talked about child care and elderly care but no specifics at all on those.

On the economy he did talk about specifically repealing the Trump tax cut and ending corporate loopholes in the tax codes. He also called Social Security a sacred obligation and to keep the payroll tax in place to pay for it. He also talked about strengthening unions. He did talk about creating 5 million more manufacturing jobs by focusing on green technology.

In terms of what I liked I don't really have a problem with any of those and do feel building on the ACA is the way to go to get to universal coverage. For a lot of the other proposals will need to see more specifics to say more. This speech though wasn't about that. It was about making the argument that the country is in trouble and Biden has the temperament and empathy to fix it.

This got under Trump's skin. He did an effective job. Surprise it hasn't been posted here.

That's a good thing since Obama isn't running. I would have been worried if voters decided to write in our former two-term president. I believe he won the popular vote both times too. And he has huge favorability ratings today. But I don't think there are any swing voters who believe he can run for a third term despite Trump's talk about trying to serve three terms himself.

Hate to interrupt whatever is going on, but I have a naive media question.

When we talk about "ratings" in 2020, I'm hoping it's not television ratings, right?
I'm not saying the DNC was good viewing or anything, but for the few parts that Mrs. B-Bob made me watch, we just streamed it at their home site. We're old, but even so, we've cut the cable cord and I can't recall the last time we "tuned in" to any given network for anything. Maybe we've streamed some PBS old-person type programming. :D

I can't find much about official streaming #s, but Biden people are claiming lots. (I don't want to use a campaign spokesperson as a source for numbers so not sharing the link.)

Yea they need to take tips on how it’s done by the Atlanta chop zone sentry or Chicago BLM mob injustice crew..Antifa isn’t the brightest tool in the peaceful rioter roster. Remember they are the ones that tried to re enact the 300 movie with a poorly setup phalanx wall of shields that got completely obliterated in .4 seconds

Well, you seem to enjoy the violence p*rn. That isn't my interest. But none of the groups you mentioned have matched the murder rate of the right-wing white supremacists.

I’m enjoying the competitive nature of your BLM protestors..every week a business owner gets beaten up, robbed, kicked, burned. Are you not entertained? the protestors are maiming and killing for your benefit . Enjoy it

I agree it was pretty funny and you guys seem to have a love and hate relationship with burn loot and murder peaceful rioters . On one hand you think it’s great but hate the negative perspective it draws

    Peaceful rioters? What is that?

Me think MAGA not understanding Anitfa is similar to MAGA not understanding you guys. The you guys you are thinking of doesn't exists. Maybe a few here and there, but it's probably about as many as the # of Anitfa out there.

Definitely fewer than the Qanon followers making it to news front pages these days (and probably more to come with the indirect endorsement from potus). Hope these fine people won't overrun the D&D. We'll have to learn secret cult terminology to
understand their "poignant and inspired questions" like those of @ROXRAN

Thanks for the Bloomberg vid. He was always able to get under Trump's thin skin. He made a convincing tax cut point. The small business analogy could've been crisper I thought. And where was the fly?!
