Vernon is a grizzlies fan. He’s been seeing Harden take a gigantic **** on his team for his entire career, so I understand the frustration.

That was probably one of the worst takes I have seen from that dude with the glasses. We have structured offense, yes we shoot a lot of threes but we create good 3 point shots. And to say Jeff green is bad a basketball.....well sorry you are an idiot, you don't stick around in the league all this long if you are bad at basketball.

The most backhanded praise I've ever heard lmao

Watching the games should be a requirement to being a sports analyst.

i see you dont listen to the ringer that much, lol. Vernon hates the Rockets. Most podcasters are angry the Rockets are doing well and not providing the schadenfreude they wanted.

I've been watching basketball for 40 years.

I've never seen an offense produce more WIDE OPEN shots.

If you go to wide open shots, and filter for regular season and at least three, 3 FGA per game, there are 3 rockets in the TOP 8 for MOST WIDE OPEN shots. Tucker is 2nd. House is 6th. Gordon is 8th. If you lower it to just two 3 point FGA, the Rockets now have 4 players that are in the top 17 in the league for most WIDE OPEN shots, as McLemore slips in there.

Same thing so far in the playoffs.

By the way if you change it to mostly open, which is 4-6 feet nearest defender, those guys are also there as well (EG, House, Tucker, and McLemore)... so they're both ranking in the tops in the league at most WIDE OPEN threes taken per game AND most MOSTLY OPEN threes taken per game.

If yo change it to tight, 2-4 feet nearest defender, ONLY Harden appears with more than 2 threes a game, and only Covington takes more than 1 of those a game (and those might have been from his time in Minny).

People can say whatever they want about it, but you just have to watch. They're threes are always open as f.

The issue is they aren't super great shooters... not like the Mavs players for example.

The guy on the left says we're unstructured. The guy on the right says we're structured. But they're really saying the same thing: We're coached in a way that doesn't ask role players to worry or think too much. They can just take the opportunities presented to them. And there are a lot of guys, like Green and McLemore, who seem to thrive in that environment, whether it's in summer league or the playoffs.

The interesting question, to me, is whether the guys who play better this way can sustain the quality of rotations we've been doing on defense. I could swear that Green and even McLemore have ratcheted up their defensive coordination along with the rest of the team. How Ben has managed to do that, after so many blown assignments in the regular season, I can't explain.

So 9 minutes of video and you can summarize in 1 or 2 words.

    High variance.

Structured and unstructured in the traditional sense at the same time.

I dare a mediocre team to emulate it and do a Rockets B team.

Think it would be fun having A vs B.

    'flying up and down'.

Great pod. The one thing I didn't like (and no it doesn't negate how great this pod is) was them saying that the players fell into this system. No... Morey and his crew of player finders did their job. This wasn't an accident, it was the result of incredibly hard work.

The parts I did like: everything but that 20 second spurt. I'd love to hear more from these guys in the future. Thx @Shaq2Yao as always. You're fantastic for this board.

KingCheetah is a very VERY highly rated poster on this board. His contributions may not be very heavy in the GARM but he's our brother on here. I would never say that about tintin. I'm just saying it's best to leave people be on here and know they've been here a long time and want what you want: A championship.

Some people are just afraid to be an eternal optimist considering our last 20 years as Rockets fans. It's just part of our DNA but rest assured they'll be happy if this end well. This place is gonna be a love fest if things work out.
