We desperately need a third-party but the whole point of this game is to keep people divided and fighting each other rather than addressing the real issues.

Yes, I know some people that voted for Trump that now will vote for Biden. They were typically people that were not very politically interested historically.

The largest group of former Trump voters I know that are now not happy with Trump have decided that they will just not vote. I can understand this thought process as they do not like Biden's policies but also think that Trump isn't fit to rule.

FWIW most of these people are women. They voted for Trump last time because of support from their husbands or because they believed Trump would be "okay". One woman I know intends to lie to her husband and family and claim she will vote for Trump but in reality will vote for Biden when alone. She said Trump's sexism is too much for her.

I expect it to be a very close election........ a lot of the states that are battle ground states ARE socially and politically leaning conservative. It will not be easy for Biden to win those states.

Good luck with that homeboy. When people are being cursed at, spat at and assaulted at by you loonies for just simply wearing a freaking hat. The silence majority is real and they will let you know come November. Love Trump or hate Trump, don’t you think It’s wrong if you get your ass beat by showing public support for the man? Did Obama voters encounter any of the crap Trump voters have been enduring?

In fact, I knew plenty of Obama voters were openly taunting people when the messiah still in the office.

We desperately need a 2nd party that believes in participatory democracy rather than a loosely bound confederation of racists, wackos and, grifters trying to sleepwalk us into autocracy

Yeah...... you really are out of touch with what was happening (and still is), at least in the case of Chicago.

Using them as avatars for their party, the President of the United States, Donald John Trump (for whom you and your fellow old bald white boaters boated) can pretty clearly be described as a wacko, racist, grifter and would-be autocrat,

In fact, it's way harder to make the case for him not being a wacko racist grifter and autocrat than it is to make the affirmative case.

Furthermore, he's combined this by remaking the Republican party into a personality cult that just keeps doubling down on the crazy, while millions suffer and hundreds of thousands die. Thanks a ****ing lot for that, by the way.

Can you say that Joe Biden is a "sore loser who think(s) looting = reparations" without relying on garbage? Or that he exercises the same level of personality cult over the people who support him who range from Republican operatives all the way on to confirmed socialists?

I'm very worried for you in your impending early retirement - the QAnon maw beckons.

Yes of course. I was just pointing out that yes there will be new Trump voters technically, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Hillary 2016 voters have flipped to Trump in any substantial way.

On the other hand yes in 2018 there were solid R voters who flipped for the first time in awhile in the suburbs as you noted. No turnout isn't all that November will be decided by. Biden needs to hold the gains that the Dems made in the suburbs in 2018, and turnout more Dem voters in those swing states. There's not one silver bullet as we are seeing with the DNC which is pretty broad in it's strategy.

Wow. Still with "sore losers"? As if many of us were enthused Clinton voters? That is such a distorted view, IMHO, and I know so many stripes of democrats.

At some point, I really do believe Trump folks (and some laser-like critics of all-things democratic) have to admit that Trump has primary agency in the way people have reacted to him, starting with his campaign announcement and moving forward from there. There is no place for a "loyal opposition," (last seen in the 1980's actually, and maybe the scared Dems of the early naughts), when someone takes office and flips a double bird right in your face. Loyalty to that would be insane.

I just don't see the "sore" thing, at all. Dems lost the election. Fine, let's hopefully move on with promised infrastructure and "being so presidential" as promised. If, on the other hand, Trump acts like an incompetent lying a-hole all day every day, acting beneath the office and regularly violating oaths of that office, that is a separate issue entirely and deserves comment.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I was totally a sore loser over Bush-vs-Gore and the whole Florida fiasco. No need to replay that, but I was sore that such a rich country couldn't get voting correct and, scientifically, we would literally never know who won Florida. The noise in the signal was just greater the margin, period. But Trump won the electoral college by a good margin, and even though some of the key states were close, the outcomes appeared legit based on all reports. HRC lost. Gore? ... eh, I'd just say he didn't win. :D
