McLemore and Green show how much draft choices can be overrated for a contending team. Could we recently have expected two late first rounders to help us as much as these two guys?

I was wrong. I thought teams were talking and watching each other in the bubble. Turns out no one was expecting Green to be this dangerous. CP3 needs to level up his scouting game.

    LOL

Rockets small ball 5 needs to be able to defend 1-5 as well as shoot 3ball.

Props to Russ as well. Those 3 (Beard, Brodie, PJ) are the players that pushed Morey for this signing.

The only way OKC can try to neutralize Green is by pressuring him on ball or by shading another defender towards Green when Harden doubled. But if EGo/Rivers in game with Harden and Green, Rockets would love that because that many defenders around or near Harden/Green would make the paint like an empty pasture.

And OKC is already struggling to defend the paint as it is.

And doubling Harden if Green/EGo/Rivers bringing up ball makes no sense. It would be an automatic 4 vs. 3 situation.

Either way, OKC just does not have the firepower to keep the game close. Rockets are going to launch 55+ treys next game.

Both were top 10 lottery picks.

Bruno has been a huge disappointment for me personally as I was advocating for Rockets to re-attain him forever believing his skill set, athleticism and LENGTH were exactly what the Rockets needed to really unlock small ball.

But his unavailability, immaturity and inability to build trust with coaches and our star players continue to hold him back.

Still have hope but he's got to work his A off in offseason to learn our system.

Is OKC going to adjust by forcing Green to pass?

    Thunder just delaying the inevitable.

    LOL

Which actually supports the Rockets stance imo. Why spend a bunch of time, effort, and energy developing 1st round pick, who is most likely only going to turn out to be a rotation player anyway, when we can get from the waiver wire or free agency with no hassle and little to no risk? Let teams draft Jeff Green for us, misuse him in their rotation, and when they panic sell him on the market we can grab him on the cheap. Or Austin Rivers. Or Ben McLemore...etc. Let the other teams do the work for us and we can cherry pick the ones that fit our scheme lol

That's why Morey always takes chances on former high lottery picks.

This is one of the reasons Morey is so great.

He can scout and identify lesser known talent AND appreciates universally accepted talent.

Then puts them in a system and philosophy to maximize these players.

I hope OKC is as dense as the national media regarding Jeff.

    LOL

Let's see how close to 90% he can get. He should be licking his chops.

Green and EGo are going to have so much space when OKC doubles Harden.

Probably not , but in the Yao and Tmac era we did have young homegrown guys like brooks , landry , and hayes contribute ( as well as lowry )

Kinda more comparable to house. Except House was un-drafted , Morey has gotten even better at spotting guys : )

You just need inexpensive, complimentary guys and Morey has seemed to find some secret sauce this go around. Sometimes you get Flynn and Lawson and sometimes you get Rivers.
