You can send a kid to college but that won't teach them common sense. This is how the spread will get worse in college towns across America.

this is funny, I admit. But I don’t think people fully understand the depth of effort, thought, planning, calculation, and anxiety that has gone into these college reopening decisions

Or how many college staff folks are facing paycuts, furloughs and layoffs. Or how many students are miserable with their most wonderful years turning into home imprisonment with Zoom meetings. Or how many poor students got into college, for the opportunity of a lifetime, only to learn they can't attend b/c their family's internet bandwidth sucks so bad. Had some heartbreaking conversations with students even yesterday.

This list will be updated as reports come in.
    Thanks to our local newspaper.

TEA SAYS THERE'S NO PLAN IN PLACE TO TRACK COVID-19 CASES AT TEXAS SCHOOLS

No thanks to TEA. Abbott should make them report cases or threaten their funding like he threatens schools to reopen.

Now that sounds just like our wonderful empathetic *Ken Paxton, who has been skirting his trial for over 5 years on felony charges.

    * Highly decorated Trump soldier

Does Cuomo have a chapter in his book for this situation? We should do the opposite.

So walked around school today found several classrooms with teachers talking under 6 feet distancing without mask.

    Tomorrow kids return.

    :(.

    I am getting actually worried.

I don't think people remember what students do in college dormitories.

Sacrifices are definitely going to be made one way or another. I think we agree on that.

I was just agreeing with @Os that people shouldn't beat up on colleges that tried to open. Some of them really thought there was a more or less safe path and just completely underestimated the psychology of the 18-21 year old human brain.

jiggy, I have started to think that a lot of people actually don't know what 6 feet is. It helps most people to see markings six-feet apart on the floor, I think. But as I've told even some friends who I think are smart: if you're really six feet away, that means I need to be able to completely fall down like a tree and just barely hit your shoes with the top of my head.

And never mind that 6 feet is fairly arbitrary and a lot of studies of indoor droplets suggest 8 would be a whole lot better.

Good luck to all of us moving forward. Going to be a bumpy autumn.

It was not even the 6 feet it that they were not even trying to wear mask while holding a casual conversation.

I know it is hard to keep the mask on all day I forgot to put it back on when I finished lunch and its just a pain sometimes.

These are adults how are kids gonna keep up?
