So even if he continues to keep shooting that poorly it’s not gonna matter and we’ll be fine cause +7. Got it.

Well don't except that to change suddenly in the playoffs.

This team will go as far a Harden can carry them and if Harden gets targeted by opposing defenses all game, then we're pretty much doomed unless Westbrook is having a good game.

Do you understand why he is +7???

    That is the problem.

    More like Mediocrington than Scrubington.

He is however above average but just for the name's sake.

Agree with everything you say, but not so sure it is MDA’s last year. Morey loves centerless small ball and has the perfect coach for his style. Tilman recently said he would love to keep MDA here. Fingers crossed it is just the typical Tilman BS, but it appears they really want MDA to stay (just on the cheap).

It's scary that everyone seems to have a "Harden" right now, but what is even scarier is that all the playoff teams are doing us better than we do us. Covington has got to step up. The only thing we have goin for us is we switch on D. If we can shut the other guys 3 point game down by switching, we have a chance. The good news is the Lakers and OK are not better than us at what we do, but everyone else seems to be. Agree that Covington is not likely goin to jump the shark suddenly, but Harden needs help, so we have got to hope for it.

The playoffs will determine MDA’s fate. If we lose in the first round expect him back here on the cheap contract; if they lose in the second round then he likely generates enough interest that other teams will offer more. Rockets management has always liked MDA, just don’t want to pay for it.

So you keep MDA around for his ultimate endgame?

A 6'0 Center. Clemons needs to grow.

Everyone has "a" Harden, Rockets have "the" Harden.

I think that will be enough vs. OKC.

    Umm... yes?

If he keeps shooting poorly but we still win the 30+ minutes a game he is in by 7 points then uhhh yeah that sounds good.

Helping your team win the minutes you are in the game goes far beyond your 3 point shooting percentage.

Would it be nice for our average 3 point shooters to actually shoot that way? Yes, but clearly he is doing A LOT of other things really well for us to continue to win with him on the floor.

Drawing in crayons can be tough.

I was not sure to explain it more clearly than Covington on the court is 7 points better for the Rockets.

Math should not be this difficult.

    LOL

Ummm how bout no? This is the playoffs now. Regular seasons over boys. He’s not gonna be a +7 shooting like that in the playoffs.

Shall I put in the work to search for series where a player was at least a plus 7 net rating while shooting poorly from 3 in a playoff series?

Because I can tell you right now it’s for sure happened. More than once or twice. Especially with players who contribute so much to the defensive side of the ball.

Poor shooting is a big concern for a guy like Ben Mac. Not Covington.

Your thread starter completely missed the mark because despite his poor shooting we have been an excellent team with him on the floor.

It is very possible for this to continue.

I think you are just a little upset and doubling down because your thread got called out for what it was. Low end, surface level analysis that didn’t show how positively the player you were b****ing about actually was to our team.

He is just trying to speak his bad take into existence. A purported fan who cannot admit his team is better than he realized.

There are too many like him unfortunately.

Their agendas are more important than facts or team success.

I don’t even know why I bother responding.

If Covington continues to shoot 25% we will lose whether it’s against OKC or the next series. Again, shooting that low of a percentage is NOT a Championship winning formula the way our team is built. You’re acting like we got a prime Ben Wallace holding down the paint or something.

Furthermore, if you can’t agree that we need Covington to step up his shooting especially when we’re gonna be missing 27 points for the first game or two then we’ll just agree to disagree.

If Covington doesn’t step up offensively I don’t wanna hear about how Harden had no help and how is teammates are scrubs.

Our chances of a championship are slim even if we ball out and play to the best of our abilities. Ignoring the fact that Covington is shooting that poorly and simply dismissing is like having a flat tire.... you can still drive on it for a bit but it’s not going to get you to your ultimate destination. The way some of your thought processes are is like... oh well we have 3 other good tires and everything is fine. No!

Did you know you can be a fan of a team without being delusional? Did you know that having doubts about your squad doesn’t make you any less of a fan or a hater?

You’re the ultimate homer who thinks we’re way better than who and what we really are, ignores any type of issues that we have, gets triggered when fans call out guys for needing to step up, actively seeks out random social media opinions that don’t align with your own and then you play the victim card when you realize you’re wrong. Again, ClutchFans very own ZDOG.

You started this thread. You called the guy a scrub. Your claim essentially was he is hurting us and will kill us in the playoffs.

The facts your brought were 3 point shooting and claimed CC could do better.

The reality is that since we traded for Covington he has been the 2nd best player on our roster with a little over a +7 net rating.

Meaning the whole season when he was shooting poorly the only other player on our team that we were winning with more on the floor is James Harden. Not Westbrook. Not Tucker. Not House.

Harden and Covington were most impactful players.

No one is going to argue that missing 3s is good for us. But what I am here to teach you is that his impact is highly positive even with piss poor 3 point shooting. So your thread was garbage.

Also Clint was a whopping +2.5 while on the floor for us this season.
