It's time for Gordon to finally earn that $52M we've already paid him, plus the remaining $75M we've guaranteed someone will be paying him after this year. While he's had his moments as a Rocket, he's never really lived up to the promise that made Dorell Mureigh sign him as a FA four years ago. This year in particular, Eric had career lows (or very close to) in nearly every single statistical category. We were told it's because he was playing through injuries. By now, that ankle should be pretty close to 100%, as should everything else that bothered him earlier this year. No more excuses. With Russell out for at least 1 or 2 games, Eric needs to man up and help Harden get this done. It's time, EG. Either step up or start packing. We're WAY past the point of being tired of waiting.
The good news is, he's moving the best he has probably since his Clipper days. If his jumpshot were to actually follow, we might just have something.
Could not have timed that extension any worse. Hopefully he remembers how to shoot a basketball here soon.
EG had a disappointing regular season in 2020 I can agree with that. But I think EG has been great for us in the playoffs. He averaged close to 20 points per game last year against the Golden State Warriors. In addition, he played outstanding defense on Donovan Mitchell. The reason why Morey extended him was because EG lived up to his first contract. Now Ryan Anderson on the other hand is a different story.
EG literally is going to have to flip the switch. In his return the last two games, he has looked so out of it. timing, rhythm, shot and all. It makes sense since he hasn't been playing but the timing couldn't be worse. hes got a high ceiling but damn his lows are so bad these days
Definitely lived up to the 4-year, $53M deal, much more than Ryan Anderson did his 4 years, $80M (3 of 4 years anyways...stayed healthy 75 games, 69 games, 68 games ... won Sixth Man and a 3pt contest) Now that he got his Ryan Anderson deal (4 years, $75M), he's unfortunately turned into Anderson. Hurt, "forgot" how to shoot, CF hates him and wants him gone. But yeah, not much faith. Ass all season, not counting on him suddenly flipping the switch.
He shot 4% points better last postseason over the regular season. Hopefully, he reach his average of 37% 3pt shooting after this postseason.
Fat Gordon is going to let you down. Put your hope in him spending his money on artisan pizza ovens, you'll sleep easier
I'll say I'm this one more time. Ego has always been a great playoff player for us. Never cared how he looked in the regular season. He a big game guy
Honestly. in that game 7 vs GSW after CP3 went down, the problem was the lack of BALLS of this team. So it is not only EG but Tucker and all the remaining players from that team need to show they have it. RobCo is new, but needs to show he has it in him. We have shown flashes of it in an couple of comebacks in the bubble. After that, the team just lacked balls again. The motivation just wasn´t there. Really, if Barkley is right, and CP3 out-balls this whole team....... just implode everything and rebuild. Period.
This is a cross roads for the Rockets as well. If we are ever going to balance out the roster / unload Gordon now is his time to shine. I wish Rivers career night last week was Gordon for this very reason and it should have been his twisted ankle is nothing more than missed opportunity. (If he was playing for a contract he would have been on the court). The worst possible out come long term for the Rockets is for Rivers to out play Gordon —> Rivers walks and we are hung with an incredible unmovable contract in Gordon. Start Gordon play him and pad the man’s stats. With two super max players every penny of the cap counts and Gordon (3rd guard and 3rd highest paid) has to go. I am hoping for Gordon to have 2 or 3 35+ point games.
