Penn State Students Must Sign COVID Waiver Discharging Liability for 'Illness, Permanent Disability Or Death'
If they're under 18, do their parents have to sign for them?

Letting science direct the process, and with concern over the health of students, teachers, parents and families be the highest priority...

But Dr. Trump said it was safe? And his new stooge, Dr. Atlas, said we should open schools! VIVA LA ESTUPIDEZ!

From the CDC guidance on schools:

"More Risk: Small in-person classes, activities, and events. Individuals remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and do not share objects (e.g., hybrid virtual and in-person class structures or staggered/rotated scheduling to accommodate smaller class sizes)."

Let's all officially choose CDC's standard of "more risk" of spreading COVID-19.

So wearing masks would reduce suicides. Good to know.

    Meanwhile...

Georgia's Cherokee County closes third high school for COVID-19 concerns
Pending tests could "significantly" add to the 25 cases and 500 people in quarantine at Creekview High, the school district says.

This is madness. Here in Melbourne (Australia), we're coming out of our 2nd wave at the moment - and I'm teaching all my high school classes from home. Is it annoying and inconvenient? Of course. But it's a temporary inconvenience for long term gain. Even our kids understand that.

BTW our 'second wave' is down to a couple of hundred cases a day thanks to stay at home orders, face masks, and social distancing. Strange how it does work...

"American exceptionalism" is considered a good thing, not a bad thing, for some reason.

A virus story: 30-ish year old white woman gets COVID-19 (no underlying health conditions) and is hospitalized. Battles the virus, but wins and is released from the hospital. A few weeks later, she is re-admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 (she tested negative as she was released), has a stroke and is put on a ventilator. Her family pulls the plug a day or so later. This happened here in Houston in the last few weeks.

Just because you tested negative after having the virus, doesn't mean you are out of the woods.

You conservatives should have taken this seriously earlier instead of falling for the "hoax defense".
