Clutchfans Game Thread: Thunder @ Rockets 8/18/2020 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

This list isn't right harden has the most points this decade. ESPN showed us this for the all decade team they released.

 

Things to watch in the okc vs rockets:

1. Does cp3 have an advantage when its a team that dont have a big for him to exploit

2. Will okc double harden with 4 shooters on the court.

3.can the rockets score when harden is on the bench.

4. Can the rockets stop penatration

5. And most importantly, can the Rockets make their open 3s created by Harden? Its the 3 point shooting that sometimes feel like a game of Roulette. Tucker, Green, and Cov MUST hit their 3s because the screener for Harden gets a ton of shots.

i think that will be cov....but low key i wonder if the even run pick n roll. To me just play 4 out. Adams would be forced to guard the 3. Harden is the best iso guy in history. Let him go 1 on 1.

The Rockets will keep screening with the 5 man until they get Adams switched onto Harden.

The Thunder can do 2 things in that scenario.
1. Switch Adams onto Harden.
2. Hedge on Harden and leave the 5 man open for 3.

We're gonna see that play repeat over a hundred times over the course of the 7 game series. Our screener hitting their open 3s is vital for us. Which is also why i'm in favor of Green starting over Tucker. Because the Thunder dont respect PJ's 3 point shot from top of the key. They wont have to switch if Tucker is the screener. With Green, they will be forced to switch because Green can shoot from top or roll to the basket or make a play with the basketball in the mid range.

 

I'm going to go out on a limp and say we start

Gordon
House
Covington
Tucker

with Rivers backing up Harden, Mclemore playing wing and Green relieving the bigs. I dont see any other Rockets getting non-blow out playing time with Westbrook out.

 

Tucker is rarely the screener.

EGo, Green, House even Covington will have most opportunities as short roller, especially from top of the break.

Thats because he is a non-threat from top of the key. PJ only shoots 3 from the corner.

Our strategy is exploitation so the greatest ISO player in history can go 1vs1 right? Adams is going to be defending PJ. The only way to get Adams switched onto Harden is to screen with PJ. Unfortunately, PJ isn't capable of doing much with the basketball so that screen play with PJ is kind of useless.

I think Jeff Green is about to get SIGNIFICANT playing time this series. 30+MPG

U misunderstood me..im saying if I was the. I wouldn't even call for the switch necause teams just double harden now when we do that. Let adams stay connected to tucker at the 3 point lime. Wide open lane for james to get to the rim.

 

The other scenario (EGo starting) is all but guaranteed.
