Yes, the cost of things is higher in California than in SEC country. Shocking, I know.

    RIP Coach Yoeman

    True greatness

More as a person/leader than as a HOF coach.

PAC 12 schools are generally more expensive, but it's really not by much, maybe 1-3K more per year. Stanford isn't a good comparison since it's a private school.

I believe the tv contracts are still paid out whether they play or not. ESPN had a good article on this and essentially P5 schools would still lose $20M+ on avg if they played the season without fans. Think it was Bama that was projected to lose $60-$70M.

I'd pretty suprised if TV contracts have to pay out regardless. They certainly don't in the pros, which is why all those leagues were desperate to play and create TV content. Normally, these networks pay for X inventory of games - if the leagues can't supply those games, there's nothing to pay for.

I suspect the #'s you're talking about are in comparison to playing with fans vs without fans - but I think there's still far more money without fans vs without games. At least that seems be the case for all other sports - it's hard to believe networks would take on so much more risk for college football?

USC is their flagship program and it’s private
Remember people donating half million so their kids can get in !

Hey Reggie Bush wasn’t cheap you know! But still the public schools aren’t that far off and even USC/Stanford is just a bit more expensive than Vandy.

Also believe all the Cali schools offer free tuition to qualified families. No idea what percentage of the student body that makes up though.

Ya thought it was odd when I first read that but I could very well be mistaken.

Yes those numbers are fans vs. without fans. If networks aren’t paying out, then yes that’s a big loss for schools.

Ohio State “actively planning” return of football in winter or spring
Posted by Charean Williams on August 19, 2020, 7:16 PM EDT
“The Ohio State University is confident that we have the safety protocols and rigorous safeguards in place for our student-athletes to practice and return to competition immediately,” Smith wrote, in part, via Patrick Murphy of 247sports.com. “While a decision has been made by the presidents of the Big Ten Conference to postpone the fall season, we view this as a temporary delay, and Dr. Johnson has directed us to prepare for the possibility of bringing at least some of our fall sports back to practice and competition by the end of the year. We are actively planning for the winter and spring seasons for all sports, including the return of football.

Wait - does this mean that even if the SEC or B12 plays a full season, all those kids get an extra year?

Believe so. Seems strange but guess that’s what they did for spring sports although don’t think any of the sports completed a full season.

Big 10 is all over the place. First they postpone for the "safety of the players" but are now discussing starting the season right alongside cold/flu season? Either way, they're looking at all 16 teams having to travel for games in domed stadiums and likely having to practice indoors full time as well. Purdue Coach Jeff Brohm put out a very detailed proposal for a January start that not only runs past the NFL draft, but also doesn't allow for any bye weeks.

Time will tell if SEC/Big12/ACC got it right but the contingencies being discussed by the Big 10 seem really weak.

    UL (ULaLa), not Tech.

In Ames. Ragin' Cajuns have run 2 kicks back, 83yd punt ret and 95yd kick. Purdy looks lost without TE Charlie Kolar (out with leg injury)

K-State losing to Arkansas State too. Seems Big12 is trying to figure out a way to remain the 4th best conference even with B10 opting out.
