great game ausitn! i wanted to start him early on in the season and everybody was hatin on me.... his step back 3 seems to have improved... we'll be lucky to keep him next year.
him missing the 1st game vs warriors last year was one of the reasons why we lost that series always loved rivers more than ego... more sound game and better shot selection
Actually, he can play as starter. Luc plays very well today. I also want to see him for the rest of matches
i wanted to start him when we had capela instead of russ cuz those three weren't fitting....he needs to stay on the bench now. he is perfect in isolations against the other teams weaker perimeter defenders..
One thing that's always bothered me about EG is when he puts the ball on the floor / drives a shot is going up , good bad or indifferent. Rivers on the other hand doesn't force the issue if its not there , he'll pick out an open shooter / cutter. Rivers also has much better handles and in general a much more well rounded offensive game - EG is a shooter.
EGo is also a better finisher. EGo is a better defender. EGo has had a bad season, certainly, but let's not forget his whole career.
He's still a tad too arrogant. A fake Dame. Was when playing against the Rockets and now for them. And there is probably a reason he wasn't going to be an Allstar after a short period of hype around draft time. Definitely not a sympathetic guy coming into the league.
Ha, love how Harden just threw him the ball a couple of times and basically started walking back on defense. Also, didn't even follow up Rivers shot on a 1 on 2 fast break. Go to work son. You could tell he was on and his teammates kept feeding him. Would be huge if he can give 20-30 minutes of aggressive play off the bench especially if Gordon, McLemore, House, etc. end up being zeros.
MDA needs to continue recognize and reward guys like Rivers when they are feeling it. Keep his confidence high because we may need him to explode for a game or 2 in postseason. In a 5 out system, skilled guys like Austin can really breakout. He is not just a catch and shoot player, his ability to create for himself and others is a premium in this system.
I can't believe we got him off the waiver wire. Not only is he a decent all-around player, but he clearly enjoys playing in Houston and in this system. He's not a specialist that needs to be set up, he can create on his own and defend. We need to keep him on the team in the future.
Well said. I think this system fits Austin like a glove. I'm hoping his performance will light a fire under Eric's rear end.
