The media did leave him off ALL all-NBA teams in 2016 so... this is not surprising.

Yes, we sure make fun of fatsos only when they have an irrational opinion about the Rockets or its players. After all, our adorable GM, Dork Elvis is also known for a chin or two. Big, big difference between Windworst and Morey.

He's objectively wrong in saying that Harden is not a top MVP candidate, but I understand how you could be All-NBA First Team player, but not a top 5 MVP candidate. He probably just considered them at around the same level this season and split these two major accolades. Harden got the better one, BTW.

Honestly, why does anyone still respect these clown's opinions? All awards should be voted on by players/coaches only.

Luc not 1st team All NBA but top MVP candidate?

There is no logic to that.

    At all.

All-NBA First Team are the 5 best players in the NBA at their positions; the top 5 MVP candidates don't necessarily have to be that. That's the logic.

When was the last time an MVP candidate was not all NBA first team?

I have watched NBA for 25 years and do not recall even hearing of this.

all awards should be computer generated by basketball reference and maybe with the use of some analytics. To many handshake deals in the NBA

I'm sure there were some years where multiple centers were MVP candidates, and only one could make the 1st team.

    Simmons top MVP candidates:

    Lebron, Giannis, Kawhi, Jokic, Luka

    Ridiculous.

Lebron may not even be best player on his own team.

Kawhi was load managed all season.

Luka on historically efficient #1 offense overall but not clutch, at all. Dallas is 29th in crunch time.

    Jordan averaged:

    .787 ppm

    Harden so far:

.731 ppm and in Houston Harden has averaged .798 point per minute.

This year Harden is getting .935 points per minute, but LeBron Bron Le Bron King BronLe LeBron.

(LeBron in his best year was .739 ppm)

Luka not being 1st Team while Harden is, but being ahead of Harden in the MVP race only makes even an ounce of sense if he views Luka as a Forward and doesn’t want to put him on 1st Team in place of a Lebron, Kawhi, or Giannis or if he has Luka as the 2nd guard on 1st Team with Harden

I think Simmons has talked about how he views MVP vs All-NBA before. I think All-NBA is more about who are the best players in the league this season, while MVP is who had the most impact on winning on their respective teams. So, he might argue that Harden is the better player, but Doncic was more impactful on the Mavs this season. Not sure if that was his reasoning, but it could be something like that.

His ballot pod was a confusing mess.

He said he thought Luka was more valuable to the Mavs as the guy who made it all happen. Then said Harden may have been statistically better but it’s because of the bigger load he carries.

He very much over exaggerated the extent of Harden’s slump and gave little recognition to how unbelievable he was the first 30-40 games.
