No ring but Jerry Sloan was a great coach. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...-being-denied-titles-by-even-greater-players/ Like D'Antoni, so much of what we see in today's NBA can be traced back to Sloan, who is something of a pick-and-roll pioneer. Look at a guy like Don Nelson, who never won a championship as a coach, but is the all-time wins leader and preceded D'Antoni in the small-ball, up-tempo practices that dominate today's game. These are innovators. Hall of Famers. These are guys who have forgotten more basketball than most people in this world will ever know. "Delivery of excellence over 20 years makes you a great coach in my eyes, as much as winning a championship but being average half the time you're coaching," George Karl told CBS Sports after learning of Sloan's death. "[Jerry Sloan] was special. Simple but brilliant. Old-school [coach] that was dedicated to team, tough man-to-man defense and unselfish offense without a lot of tricks and superb execution. One of my top five coaches I competed against."
Under D'Antoni, Westbrook has become an efficiency stud. There is no doubt that MDA has maximized Russ like no other coach, even playing alongside high usage player like Harden. https://www.rotoworld.com/article/deep-dives/russ-westbrooks-efficiency-boost-real
MDA is the best one could ever hope for to coach the Rockets. He has made all stars into legends and solid plays into board line all stars. MDA is a player’s coach that will use the skill set of his players to make a system. As a coach he lets his system win or lose. He will not change from his system/players because he wants to give it/them every chance to be successful. This is frustrating yet beautiful to watch because it works or it doesn’t. His faith within his players/system will not waiver/change. Few to no adjustments within the game; he believes in taking a loss even though he has the ability to coach around the loss because of his faith in the system/players. Adjustments will come the following game if any are made. As fans we have seen CRAZY blow outs both wins and losses, come backs and give aways —> MDA just watching it happen.
Dell Curry wanted Steph to play for D'Antoni. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/w...-thrived-under-mike-dantoni-bob-mckillop-says
He isn't the one who traded Capela and dropped Hartenstein...... I think going small killed this team. DD
I think D'Antoni's job is safe. Not because I think he's the best coach . It's cause Tilman is broke and can't afford to hire another coach. Let's just say Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos owned the team, different story based on performance.
Lost game 3 because of lack of details. Lost game 4 because he has no control of his team A Nick Nurse team sweeps this OKC team.
I am done. I won't be watching the next game This is 100% on Dantoni Harden plays 43 minutes . . . . TEAM HIGH 43 minutes Harden was obviously gassed. Rocket River
Cant wait to see what the dantoni diehards have to say lol Just sits on his ass and hopes james or westbrook can save him every game
Morey is the one who should be fired He's been here so long and the people he brought in and the strategies they have employed are not working. Rockets firmly stuck in the treadmill of mediocrity.
Crashed the offensive glass pretty well, just bad shot selection when it mattered. Thought the consecutive 8 treys were the end lol.
