How can you campaign against someone using this cherry-picked footage when this is what's happening right now under your own leadership? It'd be like McHale saying we lost 10 in a row, don't get a new coach if you want this to stop.

 

Yes this is escalation on both sides. Again looking at what happened in Minneapolis there was a real fear that the protests would keep on attracting people who wanted to come in and "Fu(% Sh^t Up!" from around the country while federal authorities would be sent into quell them. There were many rumors flying around that Federal authorities were coming in and would be using things like MRAPs, drones to drop chemical irritant bombs and live ammo. It took a couple of days but MN Authorities clamped down and the second night of deployment of the National Guard they were harsh. That night started with the infamous video of state LE shooting a woman on her porch with marker rounds. After that night things quickly calmed down and protesters and LE seemed to come to an understanding. This incident really seemed to encapsulate that attitude.


It seems to me that if there is hope for Portland, Seattle and other cities they need to get to this point. I also think this is more reason for Federal authorities who are not from there to pull back and leave it to local LE who are invested in the region. I don't know though if actually having calm in Portland is really the goal of the Federal authorities there.
