You can manipulate data all you want.

What percentage of full time employees in Texas do not have health insurance?

    Tesla 5000 jobs
    Amazon 1000 jobs

    Total 6000 jobs

what % of these jobs will not have health insurance?

And what percentage of those employed by those companies are going to be born and raised Texans?

    LOL
If you have a drivers license and a residence in Texas you are a Texan.

I doubt people who are going to work for Tesla / Amazon in Austin, TX will fly in from California or India or China every day.
They will purchase a house or rent .

Look I get it , I know what you are doing , it's just like Lin fans on a Harden thread.
    @Os Trigonum

Texas getting Tesla is a win, but you go find other data points to deflect this point.

And picking healthcare is pretty reaching, because those new jobs will have healthcare.

I don't know , you should ask HR for Tesla and Amazon.

I like to tell you how a job process works.
a bunch of people send resumes from ALL OVER.
HR picks some candidates to interview.

The manager and HR interview and do background checks.
they give an offer, the candidate can accept or refuse the offer.

they then set a date to start work.

James Harden works for a Texas company called the Rockets.
He was born in California, but he lives in Houston and has a drivers license.

Jeremy Lin works in China .
He was born California. he doesn't live in Houston.

    Which one is a Texan?

I love liberals talk about what conservatives say and just totally ignore how much virus sand is still spreading in protests that should be long over

Mofos want to shut down economy but allow people on top of each other by thousands weeks later

The point flee over your head. Lax business regulations and tax burdens attract outside businesses and talent but it does little to solve the issues with the native born Texan population as can be seen by very objective merits in education metrics and healthcare metrics.

Well I think it matters what very business friendly regulations and tax burdens result in for the local born and raised population. So it's relevant.

That's the end goal here right? What's best for Texans?

You still don't get it. Even with all these corporations being attracted here with all these job opportunities that have subsidized health insurance plans attached, Texas is still ranked 50th with percentage of residents with health insurance. Tesla coming in isn't going to jump Texas from 50th to something respectable. Most of those subsidized plans are going to people not from Texas anyways who transplanted to Texas for the job.

Again, Texas is dead last in residents with health insurance. It ranks dead last in residents over 25 with a high school degree. It ranks horribly in so many quality of life metrics.

You calling me a LoF isn't going to change the fact that Texas has the fewest percentage of residents with health insurance in the nation.

I've just skimmed this thread and it makes sense to me that the Texas is in good position to bounce back for the reasons stated, less regulation, no income tax and affordable housing. I will also add one huge advantage that Texas has is the large availability to immigrant labor both legal and illegal. Without the availability of immigrant labor I doubt Texas' construction industry would be as productive with lower housing costs. At the same time many of those people working in medical and other professional fields are also immigrants. This goes back to an argument I've made in other threads. Texas is on the leading edge of demographic changes in this country. The nationalist right wing party that the GOP nationally and the state party will not be able to maintain power as Texas becomes a state with no majority ethnic group and is increasingly a Hispanic and immigrant state.

Texas has some severe problems with quality of life metrics because of the excessive business friendly attitude.

You have to acknowledge that part. Massachusetts also attracts the high tech sector. But their attraction to Massachusetts is due to the quality of the population in terms of skillsets. Massachusetts spends money on their residents hence why they have the best public k-12 system in the nation and the highest percentage of residents with health insurance.

I'm not saying it isn't without cost but just pointing out there are multiple reasons for Texas success and immigration is an important one.

I agree that Mass has taken a different route to success focusing on create a more educated workforce with higher standard of living. That said how much MA's system will help MA bounce back from COVID-19 I'm not sure. While this model has worked for MA it isn't a very flexible model because of the all the built in regulations and benefits. The Texas model is much more flexible in terms that without a lot of regulation and benefits to begin with adjusting to a crisis or making a change to attract business is easy. Housing affordability makes it hard also to attract a lot of new labor or encourage movement of labor. Also I will point out a flexible labor force, with a lot of them not legal, makes it easier to scale or up or down depending on demand for labor.

South Dakota is making a big pitch to attract new business and has been running ads in Minnesota, and I presume other states. They are pushing the that they have very little regulation including that they won't shut down..
