We don't agree at all, you are arguing that it's time to "get off the race card" and start dealing with the real issues. The problem IS RACE. Systematic racism and white privilege are forces that work against solutions to the "problems plaguing black people". This is why you don't actually have solutions to such problems, because you are actually sweeping and discrediting that actual issues in exchange for imaginary ones. The root of the issue stems from racism and you can not address poverty in black communities until this is acknowledged. The solution has to be holistic otherwise it's just a bandage.
Right, I didn't know that and that's pretty huge. So yeah, it just contradicts this idea from @pgabriel that companies are just begging to hire black people. I mean, yeah, they say it and they probably have enough to make it seem like they mean it but companies always just say PR stuff. Blackout Tuesday and all that. Blizzard was making #BLM posts right after they stood behind China to ban a player for saying Free Hong Kong. So it might be that the bare minimum is being done and whites are still being favored for positions.
It's a non-partisan think tank. If you're going to discredit their data then come back with something that contradicts them other than your personal experience.
All I said was I don't know who that is Secondly i already did. Those numbers are from 2019.. in August last year the overall gap in unemployment between whites and blacks was its lowest since 1972. Posted that earlier
I already addressed this with evidence. Blacks dont get the same degrees. A higher percentage of whites get degrees in field like engineering
@JayGoogle I know you want to keep preaching racism but as far as my argument that corporate America makes an attempt to diversify you do realize 3.5% is a low unemployment rate So your chart backs my claim IF its accurate. Your 1.3% is a wide gap is stupid. And you apparently don't know what a good unemployment rate is.
Corporate America doesn't want some stupid bad discrimination lawsuits. Anybody who has had a job,at a large to midsize corporation knows they are constantly trying to prevent discrimination. Signs all in the break rooms, classes, etc. Some CEO managing a thousands of employees corporation ain't trying to get bad pub holding jobs for the good ole boys
That doesn't help your argument my dude. You said that companies were begging to hire blacks so why is there a gap at all with educated black people? Like at all, according to you, companies are just dying to hire blacks and yet there is a gap. That contradicts your argument. I didn't see you post any such evidence in this thread about the type of degrees, maybe I missed your 'evidence' post. But this contradicts your whole "Just go get trades man" argument, doesn't it? Obviously getting an engineering degree is nothing like getting a trade school degree and the most popular degrees for blacks are not some fluff degree. It's Law and healt/medical. No, my chart does NOT back your claim lol. You said and have been saying that companies are dying to hire black people, yet there is STILL a GAP for black people. I'm not sure why this is so hard to get. Your claims are contradicted by data, because again, you're saying companies can't wait to hire black people but there's still...a gap in unemployment AND underemployment. You aren't even keeping up with the argument and are all over the place, who said 3.5 over unemployment is BAD? That was Never my argument. Never. The GAP and DIFFERENCE betweeon ONE GROUP and ANOTHER is the only discussion being had here. One you keep running away from to try these sad strawman attempts. What you're missing is companies can still be 'diverse' by doing the minimum required. You still haven't explained that high-school gap I see. Remember when you said getting a high school educated job should be easy?
Also, you keep saying 1.3 is a small number, and I get why you'd say that but it's not small when you're talking about millions of people. Corona came into this world killing people at 1% These numbers are saying there hundreds of thousands of black educated people that have issues finding jobs. This plainly contradicts your argument that if you are black and have a degree you'll get job offers thrown at you or whatever.
If I'm an employer, I'm putting the best candidate I can on my payroll. The ones who go against the grain there will be few and far between. I would have to see one of those studies to be convinced otherwise.
How do you define qualifications? Do you consider how comfortable you or how you think your staff would feel working with the person a qualification? Would you consider recommendations from people who you know socially as qualifications?
The gap is isn't big. 3.5% is a hell of a good unemployment rate regardless. Blacks dont have the same degrees as whites.. I posted the evidence of that in post #64. A higher percentage of whites get degrees like engineering that keep you employed Third time I've posted this and mentioned the evidence. Don't bother again disputing it it unless you have evidence As far as the August 2019 overall unemployment gap gap being the lowest in 48 freaking years. you just talk without thinking. 48 years isn't significant? Rome wasn't built in a day
We're always talking about millions of people when talking America. That's why we look at percentage for perspective. Stop saying that stupid **** The unemployment rate is called RATE
You say Systemic Racism and White Privilege are the problem - What laws or policies are there in place today that highlight this? What laws or policies are there in place today that says that if you're Black man or woman that you're not allowed to 1) be self-reliant 2) have nuclear family structure 3) have a work-ethic 4) strive for wealth 5) get an education As a 1st generation American, with immigrant parents from South Asia who moved here with nothing - if my family and I have striven for and have been able to accomplish the above - were there laws/policies that helped propel us to accomplish these things? Honest question because I don't know of any laws or policies that segregate the Black community from the White/Asian/Hispanic/etc communities. If you do know if any, I'd like to be educated on them.
The problem is looking at this as a legal issue. That hey, if an immigrant can come here from a foreign country and be successful, then there is no problem for a black person. The reality is that it's not about laws. A) Your parents faced racism and likely were held back because of their race for various things such as raises and promotions but it's never quantifiable B) You parents immigrating here is not the same as a black person's life in this country who grew up in poverty. More than likely your family is educated. Secondly, your family history didn't include slavery where at some point no one in your family had any history of success and was stripped of all human dignity. Imagine such a person, who never was educated, never treated well, was a slave their whole life being told what to do, and then freed and tossed into a racist society in poverty with no skills other than being a slave. How will they teach their children to be successful when they don't know anything about success. Today the kids in poor black communities have no sense of what success is or that they will achieve it. They don't see themselves having a future. They don't believe that education is a real thing for them. Nor do their parents or their communities. Their schools are substandard, their teachers are more baby sitters than educators. They are hungry and don't eat. They go home to broken homes with no role models or anyone really to teach them much. Their mothers have to work crazy hours to try to feed them. The usually only get one meal a day sometimes which is their school lunch. Their communities are shattered by crime, drugs, poverty, and a lack of opportunity. Because of their environments, family life, and school quality, they lag behind and most jobs other than mcjobs become out of reach. College isn't just a dream, it's simply unattainable to them in their minds. Does this describe your parents?
The most fascinating statistic in the whole article is that in 2 parent, married households, blacks are more successful than whites, or at least less likely ot be in poverty.
I've worked for 4 Fortune 50 companies. The black person with similar skills will be picked over the white person EVERY TIME. A giant bonus if they are a woman. By the way...other minorities "don't count". The black candidate will be picked over the Asian, Indian, Hispanic, Arab...every time. HR actively and freely admits these in written policies in these companies.
