I believe Amazon already started moving their operations out of Seattle and into Bellevue last year. The plan was to finish moving by 2023.

Exclusive: Amazon moving thousands of employees out of Seattle, relocating key division to nearby city

This isn't the first time Seattle has tried to tax businesses within the city and it probably won't be the last.

Bottom line is that corporate welfare does need to come to an end as it's coming at the expense of lives of workers. All these incentives to help make people uber rich is resulting in the rest of the country being stuck in no man's land.

I heard Bellevue is a much larger city and more roads and real estate than Houston Texas
I think Bellevue is the fourth largest city in America

I forgot Houston can't handle a huge company like Amazon or Apple,
They need a much much bigger city

    Like Austin Texas

    @RayRay10

Houston can't have a big company , it's too small

look at the tiny 100 acre Exxon Campus in Spring (Houstonian ish campus like Katy)

If Bezos treated his employees better and offered a better service, I would feel differently. Like Ebay, Amazon has largely become trash. Ordering off Amazon is like a ghetto Christmas. You just have no idea what you're going to get when open your package.

I usually prefer the retailer to be Amazon, usually that goes pretty well.
I even got a OLED tv delivered from them.

If you are buying some cheapo brand from new vendor on Amazon, it might go wrong.

This is just not true at all, I order all the time and have never got something that was flat out wrong.

Now I have gotten things that were not working or looked a bit different but they were easily exchanged.

Read the reviews they tell you everything you need to know.

I think you mean ordering from third party services. I'd definitely agree with you there.

Houston can't stop hurricanes, biblical flooding, and extreme humidity.

However, infrastructure, and size are not a problem at all.

The Med Center is the largest in the world and we're expanding it.

And of course, they will be saving lots of money

Amazon should have no problem affording it. Neither should other big businesses. They should pay their share.

And Austin's housing prices are out of control and their roads are a mess. The highway system was bad when I lived there and Dell was really the only tech company at the time (Apple was quite small at that time). Austin is a perfect case study for this. I understand the perpetual search for jobs but Amazon is a vulture of a company. They'll create problems and manage to find a way to avoid paying the taxes required to support their existence.

Focus on creating more local companies (like Dell). Handing out crazy subsidies and tax breaks to bring jobs just deprives the city of the revenue it needs to support these companies.

Houston has Rice and UH. Dell exists in Austin because Michael Dell went to UT (despite being from Houston). Universities cultivate the leaders that can go on to build great companies. But you have to incentivize those people to stay in Houston. So go throw money at universities to incubate companies. Don't waste your time with Amazon.

And all the people I know living in Austin are enjoying their lives and high paying jobs

better to be employed than unemployed

well Amazon ain’t coming because of weather issues.

but you do realize that all these companies are in Texas for a reason.

    we’re better.

What’s wrong with amazon stock ? I don’t feel guilt that it makes me money
