Investigators believe the victim is tech entrepreneur who lived in the building, but they’re waiting for the Medical Examiner to confirm his identity.

“It’s shocking. It’s gruesome,” resident Jason Rivera, 45, told The Post. “What could possibly be going through someone’s mind to decapitate him? Pure evilness.”

A former employee has been arrested in the grisly murder of tech CEO Fahim Saleh, sources told The Post Friday.

Tyrese Devon Haspil, 21, is in custody and expected to be charged with the murder of Saleh — who was found decapitated and dismembered inside his Lower East Side apartment on Tuesday, the sources said.

Haspil worked as Saleh’s chief of staff at his venture capital firm Adventure Capital — but acted as his personal assistant.

The motive behind Saleh’s slaying allegedly involves stolen cash, sources said.

The entrepreneur, 33, learned that Haspil allegedly swiped $100,000 from him — but instead of ratting him out to authorities, he brokered a repayment plan with the younger man.

But at some point, Haspil allegedly reneged on the deal.

“This was an act of charity that turned into an act of murder,” the source said.
Saleh’s body was discovered Tuesday by a concerned cousin who hadn’t heard from him in days, sources previously told The Post.

We can debate if someone does a crime to you, do you contact the POLICE or make a deal with someone who commits a crime AGAINST YOU?

depends on the crime , depends on the person . In this case it looks like he made the wrong call . But hey , had he caught the guy and said “I’m gonna call the police” the guy might’ve killed him right then and there .

there's actually a HUGE spike in crime after they 'defunded' 1 billion dollars from the NYPD.
And AOC looks cute when she talks about crime.

But he made a deal with his killer/thief. He could have stilled called the authorities after the deal.

This is why as his employer, he should have fired him and immediately alerted the authorities about his intentions.

I know a case in Houston back in the day, that a dude in the department made threats against employees and the company fired him and alerted the authorities to arrest him.

In this NYC case, this guy was blatantly stealing. It wasn't a disgruntled employee.

I’m not arguing with you there . Especially , post murder .

I guess for me it depends on why he didn’t involve law enforcement. It’s one thing if he decided to handle it privately because he didn’t trust the police , but in all likelihood he was probably just trying to be a good person and cut the guy a break .

prolly not the best judge of character, but hey people **** up .

I don’t think this is some anti-police story gone wrong

Cut the guy a break when he stole $100K of your money as your personal assistant .

Well this thread is for anything that involves Crimes in NYC.

But for this case, because he's obviously a rich guy, he should have taken off his ' everybody has good in their heart hat' and put on his reality hat ' I'm rich, he's stealing from me'

maybe he didn’t wanna involve law enforcement so he didn’t have to pay the legal fees that would’ve been required to get his 100 k back ... whaddya think about that ;)

I have no idea why he tried to work it out with the guy , but it looks like the guy did make a few payments ... so maybe there was a relationship there

im not opposed to a thread on crime raising in nyc ... that seems par for the D&D course . This just seemed like more of a freak occurrence thing and not related to a greater narrative

It's just one crime. i'm pretty sure we can find many many NYC crimes to talk about .

And how some people are downplaying the uptick in crime.

    This is bold.

You don't roll up to Manhattan and do this where the rich folk are and expect to get away with it.
Unless you feel you can easily get away with it.

I remember a funny skit, maybe SNL, where a good looking dude is never told he's wrong. He goes his entire life never being told anything negative. He grows up to be a terrible doctor. I think the actor was Brad Pitt or someone like him. This is AOC.

Exhibit A: The rise in crime seen in New York is not from grocery store shoplifting.
