I am not a political genius like trump, but doesn't this lie from trump actually help Biden by encouraging Bernie supporters to vote for Biden?
If Biden is serious about Texas he needs to talk directly to oil and gas workers (not executives). Talk about things like job skill transferability and how new innovation in energy will only increase competition in a way that’ll spur innovation on the oil and gas side too which will help your business investing in itself instead of execs just milking their book of business with a plan to sell off in a few years to Exxon in a few years anyways. Talk directly to oil and gas here in Texas. Almost all of those Houston suburbs that he need to win Texas are mostly employed in something related to that industry and I think if you can cut through the fear mongering about losing jobs due to wanting to address climate change, I think he can seriously win Texas. The Houston and DFW suburbs are key to winning Texas. If he also can tap into the Latino community and get any sort of turnout there too Texas is a huge get. If he’s going to put money in here those two issues need to be front and center. *Also the threat of hurricanes like Harvey and Ike is something very attention getting in Texas and the coastal region. Everyone in Houston knows it’s only a matter of time and while there are a lot of Texans who think the short term benefit of oil and gas jobs are important, all of them know that we are playing with Fire here in Texas with our hurricane threat that is getting exasperated by climate change.
Trump’s strategy: tap into white fear, white pride, and try to pit white people against all the “others” worst President of all time Trump and all his stupid supporters are trash, and I can’t wait for them to get tossed in the dumpster out back in November “people love the Confederate flag”...u call yourself an American, but love and worship traitors to America...TRASH
I agree with that Biden needs to talk to oil and gas workers but I can see that as a very difficult sell. The most I can see him saying and remaining consistent with the rest of this platform is that his administration will look to provide retraining in new green energy jobs. It's probably the same message he will deliver to the coal miners. Texas overall though isn't just oil and gas anymore. There are many other concerns regarding issues of race and immigration as Texas will be among one of the first states where there soon won't be a white majority. I agree addressing natural disasters is a big issues. Not just hurricanes but wildfires, drought and tornadoes. I think discussing the need for better infrastructure to deal with these will help him a lot.
“What’s especially notable here is that Biden’s net enthusiasm rating is near zero, which is similar to most major-party presidential candidates’ ratings from 1980 to 2012. Trump’s current score of around -20, on the other hand, has only one historical comparison other than his own campaign four years ago: Hillary Clinton in 2016.” https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-trump-not-biden-might-have-an-enthusiasm-problem/
Fact check: Trump makes at least 19 false or misleading claims in wild anti-Biden monologue https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/14/politics/fact-check-trump-biden-speech-rose-garden/index.html

Being from Houston I just know that in the suburbs there's this stigma that without oil and gas getting propped up by the Republican party, Houston and much of the Texas economy would collapse. I agree 100% that oil and gas isn't what it used to be in Texas in terms of importance, but I do believe that people in those key areas still believe it is more important than it is. Again you are selling the suburban voter more than you are selling the actual oil and gas blue collar worker going out on the rigs. He's gotta be able to speak to that fear of losing the oil and gas job infrastructure IMO and try and put that stigma to bed. Race and immigration are important too, but the road to Texas lies in the suburbs of Houston, and specifically Galveston, Montgomery, Tarrant, and Denton County in DFW & Hou. He'll win Harris County, Dallas County, and much of the Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso areas. Tarrant county is the one to watch. People don't realize how massive that county is and how much it has changed in just the past 5 years. Arlington is actually just as big in population as Fort Worth alone. That county has consistently been red but is poised to flip with the massive change in demographics, and ability to drive turnout that usually is highly suppressed. My guess is Beto's team is pretty close to Biden's camp and can coach them on this targeted approach. I think the biggest issue with Texas will be the inability to actually get on the ground here in Texas. His presence here talking to workers directly (again more for the suburban vantage of Biden and Texas workers) would be key. It's a hard sell, but I do think Texas should be in play if they've got the resources to do some targeting.
Just throw the kitchen sink at Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Don't spend energy in Texas. Its not needed.
Bingo...unless you think Hegar has a chance against Cornyn, there's really not much reason to go after Texas at this point. If you think Hegar is within striking distance of Cornyn, and you might gain a Senate seat, then you go after Texas full bore. I'd rather him spend money on Georgia and try to flip one of the Senate seats there.
The oil downturn and layoffs affords him a great opportunity. Oil industry people get jaded by the volatility and job insecurity. Seems like a good time to pitch an adjacent industry that people with oil experience can realistically transfer their skills toward.
