Biden is up on tv in Texas. Its still amazing that Trump has somehow made Texas viable for Democrats.
https://www.dallasnews.com/news/pol...oint-deficit-in-new-dallas-morning-news-poll/ Trump insists he’s ahead in Texas, despite 5-point deficit in new Dallas Morning News poll Republicans concede they're worried. They can't win the White House without Texas, a state their nominees haven't lost since 1976.
The poll that would interest me the most... ask only registered Republicans one simple question: If you could pick any current Republican to be President, would it be Trump?
It's a great question, but I doubt they'll answer it at least truthfully. Because knowing Trump supporters like I do, the truth is they would say in context that Trump is the right man for the times. Meaning, Liberals are a threat to the existence of mankind, and so bad that you need someone with no shame, and normal rules of law & governing to combat this culture and cold civil war. He says and does the things that nobody else can do, and for that superhero/supervillain ability, he's their guy that THEY CHOSE. The biggest issue is convincing them that this culture war really isn't an existential threat to civilization. There's also the evangelicals who believe we are in the end times and Trump is God's anointed Christian Warrior on their behalf to fight the antichrist. Dead serious that they believe this. Too many prominent evangelical millionaire preachers have been spouting this nonsense for years now, and there's no putting that toothpaste back in that tube. These folks are in on Trump till the grave. So while a great question, I fear the answer will still be that 97 to 99% of "Republican" voters or people who still call themselves Republicans that havent left the party, will say he's the best person on earth to serve as president for the rest of his life.... and yes, they would all rather him defy the constitution and refuse to leave instead of a Democrat taking over after a fair election. The issue is how much of a threat they believe Democrats and Liberalism is. Still I think things are so bad that peeling away even a smidgen of a fraction of these folks with great messaging and more personalized campaigning would be a worthy achievement.
That would be an interesting question but if you did it on the other side my guess is there will be just as many, if not more, Democrats who would say they would prefer someone else to Biden than Republicans someone else besides Trump. That is pretty much what the enthusiasm figure shows and Trump is still winning that one.
https://thebulwark.com/joe-biden-should-not-mess-with-texas/ excerpt: The Biden campaign trying to make a strong play in Texas is a bad idea for a bunch of reasons. A parable: Texas is the football. Lucy is the Republicans. And Dems are Charlie Brown thinking that this time, things will be different. We went through this exercise with Beto O’Rourke and the Senate race in 2018. Beto out-raised Ted Cruz an unthinkable $70 million to $33 million and Cruz still won by more than 2 percentage points. And it’s not like Cruz is popular in the state. Cruz’s approval rating in June of 2018 was a dismal 39 percent. So with more than twice the money, against an unpopular incumbent, a popular Democrat with a national following who got all of the earned media in the world still couldn’t pull of a win in Texas. Do you know why? Because it’s Texas. more at the link
LOL... he replied to two different posts how it wasn't worth the effort discussing it... suspect it will soon be three.
For sure. I think if you had a way to separate the "true believers" from just the right wingers who want power, you'd see a completely different response with some truth serum. Just keep in mind, he won the primary against basically every Republican in the party in 2016 for a reason. ALOT of people think he's the man in Right Wingerville.
you read what you want to read, intentionally not addressing the billion-lb ELEPHANT in 2020, COVID19, hat was not there in 2018
