We became entitled as a society, didn't vote in enough elections, and assumed that Trump and his ilk were too extremist to ever be elected. We (and I'm using the royal "We) felt we could just continue to ignore it and it would go away instead of constantly fighting every day for the things that we value and to realize that Freedom isn't Free.

Hopefully, these 4 years will be the wake-up call that many need to start realizing that they need to get involved, to vote...in every election (including down to school board elections), and not to just take their own selfish interests in to consideration when they are in that booth.

I do not understand this thinking. Hospital has physical and resource limitation. How can you claim that it will never exceed capacity. Are you saying they will simply start to turn away people to reserve their capacity? Care to explain?

I suspect the quick answer may have been "send them to different hospitals". But in this case, what if there are no "different hospitals" since they are also at 100% capacity. Do we start seeing parking garages converted to hospitals (I think that happened in NY)? Do we move large Navy hospital boats into the Port of Houston?

I also wonder if the unique demands of dealing with this COVID-19 pandemic place even more strain on hospital resources? For example, does treating so many patients with COVID-19 all at once, requiring increased protection of doctors, nurses and other hospital staff (eg protective clothing, masks, isolation, etc) make "100% capacity" even more of a problem than times may be dealing with high capacity (eg, if there was a large building fire).

Area hospitals grouped together also have physical and resource limitations. The logic doesn't fly. I just don't get the thinking.

No doubt the rally contributed but then there's this:-
"In the past few days, we’ve seen almost 500 new cases, and we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots,” Dart, the Tulsa City-County Health Department director, said on Wednesday,"
I recall a thread here somewhere where you folk were falling backwards over yourselves gleefully pointing out how poorly attended Trump's rally was.
    One wonders which is it?

It was poorly attended and yet crowded enough with ignorant, selfish people who didn't wear masks or distance in the enclosed space that both could be true. It was center for spreading and also poorly attended.

Are the BLM protesters immune to this WuhanFlu? Did anyone test these purple martians for their rates of infection?

When the President is discussing 1,000,000 people appearing at a rally...... then the claim is hundreds of thousands...... then the President says over 12,000 attended......... then the fire chief says the attendance is 6,500........ well that invites laughter and scorn regardless of who it is.

We are still talking about over 6,000 people inside a building with recirculating air conditioning and most without masks........ no doubt it contributed to the increase in COVID cases in Tulsa and likely other places. How many? I don't know....... no one can really answer that question.

Likewise the protests certainly spread COVID (although experts are saying less than most expected) but at least that was outdoors and many people wore masks....... but there were also a lot more than 6,500 people protesting.

At this point everything has spiraled out of control. I have made it clear how and why I believe President Trump should shoulder a lot of blame.... but either way, here we are.

I'm sure the video wasn't the entire rally. The video also included interviews with attendees saying they weren't worried about the virus and they weren't going to wear masks. The photos weren't edited.

Part of that is spin is so the public doesn't get freaked the **** out that they can't go to a hospital if they get sick.

    There is:
    1) capacity: regular bed space, ventilatory equipment, physician/nursing/tech staffing, medicine and other logistical materials required to operate the hospital on a regular day.
    2) surge capacity: the ability to create or utilize unused bed space, flexing in all available manpower, using equipment in unique ways (e.g. two patients per ventilator or using an anesthesia cart as a ventilator).

Those are two completely different things.

There limits on how much beyond regular capacity hospitals can increase as well as how long surge capacity can be in place.

One of the local hospitals used to send out email updates that detailed their surge plan. It was basically to convert non-ICU floors to ICU floors in a descending fashion: surgical step-down > cardiac telemetry > general med/surg floor > rehab floor. There are a ton of logistical problems with that, namely equipment and that most of those personnel are not critical care trained. There was an outcry when radiologists (doctors not in clinical medicine) had to go serve in CoVid units and ICU's. That's like sending an AC repairman to work at an auto-shop.

So yea, hospitals can utilize surge capacity and never technically be 100% full but that by no means can go on indefinitely. Especially with cases continuing to rise, hospitals are rightfully concerned with their current and future capacity issues.

They can't show what isn't there. Is it your contention that the majority of attendees wore face masks and socially distanced, and that the arena was actually full 100%?
