That's exactly the sort of ad I was hoping to see during Biden's campaign. Hard hitting and true. Just the facts, Jack.
What I didn't expect to see were ads like this being put out by Republicans. I didn't expect it, but I'm also not surprised. Nice find.

The beauty of this group, and especially the Lincoln Project, is that they DGAF. They can say things straight up an they don't have to worry about backlash or having to govern people down the road. They have one mission - getting rid of Trump, and they don't have any limitations of professionalism or being part of a political party. I love how the Lincoln Project so easily gets under Trump's skin. It's something I expected Dems to do, but I can understand why they don't go down that path.

While I fully expect that if Biden wins they will largely go back to challenging Biden and Democrats (as they should). But hopefully both sizes with find more common ground when this is all over. In the mean time, nice to have them on the same side!

If this one was the only difference it would be enough...

I heard an interview with Steve Schmidt and he was asked what he and the Lincoln Project were going to do after the election presuming Biden wins and if he would be opposing the new administration. He said there were still a lot of Republicans out there responsible for the situation we’re in now. He mentioned Tom Cotton. That sounds to me like they are going to focus on defeating Trump’s enablers.

this is what I meant by there will be a reckoning in the party.

    "Republican Voters Against Trump"

I've been waiting 5 years for a phrase like this to finally emerge. Better late than never, I suppose.

I would hope that there is the possibility of an emergence of a third party. One that is moderate as the democratic coalition is too broad.

The problem though is that even Republicans like Steve Schmidt may be anti-tax Republicans which is the primary issue

I could see that happening. If Trump is out of office and different wings of the party fight it out in primary battles. The losers go on to form a separate party either a Neo-Con party that is focused on small government, pro-business and internationalist, or something that looks like the Dixiecrats focused on populism, nationalism, protectionism, and social issues.

One other possibility is that someone like Justin Amash takes over the Libertarian party and many never Trumpers join him.

I wish that we could go to a ranked voting system...would make the rise of 3rd, 4th, 5th , etc parties more viable.

I would like to see this.

What would also help is if parties were limited to state lines. It would essentially break the party up into 50 different entities and the money would not be allowed to transfer. There can be national parties too, but that money can only be spent on Presidential candidates and Senate candidates. The state parties would only be allowed to spend money on HoR, Governors and local candidates.

It's a likely possibility as I don't think the GOP is ever going back to its pre-populist roots. Ultimately moderate GOPers are forever without a home, and I can't see them becoming part of the same party that houses folks like Bernie and AOC. With most voters identifying as independents, I could see the birth of that party.

I do think they will have to take a middle road on taxes. If they do, they could pull in enough moderate dems to join them to form a middle party that essentially controls the country since it can side with the left or the right as it sees fit.

My personal opinion is that more traditional Republicans take back their party, joined by what used to be moderate Republicans who now largely view themselves as independent voters. I think the trump madness has not only shocked the majority of the nation. I think it also shocked the majority of Republicans. Many Republicans who voted for trump in 2016 never dreamed that he would turn out like he has. The GOP isn't made up of White working class Americans. trump's political "party" is.

3rd parties haven't done anything other than act as spoilers in presidential elections, and even that is rare. I've seen a lot of elections and while there is always talk about a "3rd way," the ultimate result is "sound and fury, signifying nothing." I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Why spend money running these ads when you have other people run these ads for you on their dime?
