Why are dumb people jealous of geniuses like Elon, Bezos, and Hardisty

I view these guys like any other apex predator.

I like watching clouded leopards do their thing on youtube videos. But if I was standing in a room with a clouded leopard and he was looking at me licking his lips I'd be properly wary and I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking he had my best interests in his heart. Leopard gonna take care of leopard.

I'm not jealous of the leopard, nor do I put him on a pedestal as some sort of paragon of goodness. He is what he is and he's good at it.

 

I think people are starting to over credit Musk like they did with Jobs. People assume that Musk has immense technical expertise and is heavily involved in the engineering design process in SpaceX and Tesla when in reality he's just a dude who made bank from PayPal from his actual expertise (computer science which was mostly self taught) and attracted wealthy investors due to his charisma and technical vocabulary as he does at least have a BS in physics. He is extremely intelligent obviously but people have this false perception that he's Tony Stark who tinkers with prototype fusion reactors on his spare time in his basement.

He isn't an expert in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering. I doubt he is that involved in those aspects of the design. His company just attracts the best engineers in those fields.

 

I believe anyone who has the perception you described of Musk doesnt quite understand him. He certainly isn't a Tony Stark (gag) who is the brains behind the entire operation. Jobs, Bezos and Musk .. along with others all had great vision. The difference with Musk is his vision is to help humanity as a whole, not try to scrape every dollar out of every opportunity possible. He has said such that he is not the most talented engineer. What he does well at is breaking down concepts to their basic forms and rebuild from there. If Jobs vision was to make the iPhone a little better than the Blackberry, we would eventually get to where we are today but at a much slower pace. The iPhone was a superior device for years but eventually the competition caught up. Eventually the same thing will happen with Tesla and Musk is perfectly fine with that. His goal is to get ICE vehicles off the road, not exploit impoverished people in other countries to maximize profits. Tesla, Boring company, SpaceX, Mars exploration, Starlink and neurolink are all symbiotic ideas and tech. The guy has revolutionized two industries in a decade all while having fun with it.

Starlink scares me. Neurolink is a bit of a scifi fantasy at this point.

 

And yet he fires workers who stay home to avoid getting Coronavirus. He doesn't care about humanity, he cares about his ego

 

Let me get this straight. When the world watched in awe as his boosters landed. When everyone told him he couldn't do it. The guy who is trying to cut emissions by using electric cars instead sitting on twitter bemoaning all the people who call global warming false. The guy who relentlessly puts in 100 hours a week year in and year out.
Sure, he was able to reach these accomplishments by being a nice guy appeasing a few minions who were afraid to get sick. Replace a few minions with willing people ... or let us all die from our relentless pollution and lack of innovation.

But Amazon is fine. Never mind Bezos model exploits the entire supply chain. Sick child? Thats ok. Take the day off. Collect your last paycheck at the end of the week. Americans need their cheap chinese crap which will go to the landfill in a years time.

But thats ok. We dont need electric cars today. we can wait until the virus is over with in two years to resume production. Im sure Tesla will still be in business (they wont). If not, we can all drive shitty Priuses or Chevy Volts.

 

You can't claim to care about your workers when you violate state rules to keep your factory open - and in fact workers at his plant got sick with COVID. Tesla also has a terrible worker safety record - 30% higher than industry average. He's fired workers who have complained about safety. This is not a man who cares about people but a man who cares about greatness.

He put his workers lives at risk to sell more cars. Humanitarian indeed!

Has he claimed he cares about workers? I certainly don't think he cares about the individual. Im perfectly fine with that. He sees the big picture.

And yes, he wants to put more electric cars on the road. He believes it absolutely absurd we continue to pollute our planet with carbon admissions. And I agree with him. Its utterly stupid. And it irritates me when the SJW like to stand on their soap box and belittle people who dont believe in global warming all while doing absolutely nothing to cut their emissions.

So no, I dont fault him for wanting to ensure he keeps meeting investors expectations so his company stays in business. He has very aggressive goals and he is doing a much better job of advancing technology and the good for humanity than any idiot in Washington has in the last 50 years. So make sure you do your civic duty to show up in November to vote for one of those two idiots. Maybe one of them will regulate Tesla out of business so we can continue to make ICE vehicles for the foreseeable future. Musk has made his billions. So who really cares?

Be careful of the argument you are making here. When you argue that the ends justify the means - that doing bad to obtain a greater good is justified - you are walking down the path of a lot of dark people in human history.

When you can sacrifice individual lives for the sake of glory or achieving a result, where do you really stand?

Tesla doesn't need to have a terrible worker safety record to make expensive luxury cars for the rich that are barely making a dent in environment. To argue that it's a justified sacrifice to injure or even kill off some workers in order to obtain some utopian dream of a megalomaniac is just disturbing.

I never said Tesla should be shut down. But the idea that workers shouldn't have a safe place to work is ridiculous.
