my understanding from the TMC is that rate in Houston is very high. Hospitalizations are growing exponentially and number of beds is decreasing.

I see the proposal as a no brainer for the players. We all have to socially distance until this is fixed. Most of us do this in very small groups of immediate family and core friends.

the league allows a much larger group to isolate as a unit. Gives players something to do - keeps the kids busy and the women can gossip, cheat and make basketball housewives shows.

The one cool thing about this is the possibility of getting something like a courtside experience on TV. A tape delay and bleeps doesn’t bother me one bit if we get court sounds as opposed to fake cheering and other sound effects.

Doesn't make sense. If it's tough for you, it's tough for your opponents for the same reasons. So it evens out.

It is an asterisk because some players are missing and the changed situation has shifted everything unpredictably.

I'll give him credit for being able to take the media.

But seeing as how they're all rich and treated like royalty, b****ing about being locked down in a bubble sounds white bread af.

I've never been to Disney anything, spoiled MF, stop making it look like you're in Nazi Germany.

Pandemic, unemployment, systemic race protests, Russia putting bounties on our servicemen, etc.

Not all these issues are affecting every NBA team/players/staff the same. Some have more pressure/stressors depending on their convictions/family at risk/roles.

But I agree with Rivers so what do I know.

rivers already said this same thing back in april/may .

and to your * post, players are missing pretty much every year and those include actual stars. so basically every year is an * then.

    AFAIK, no.

I'm also not worried about any NBA player who are currently in the league getting COVID, I'm pretty sure they'd be completely fine even if they got it, as long as they're not immunocompromised.

Those 16 players testing positive has nothing to do with sports returning. Once they are on-site, the chance that a player tests positive goes way down, if executed correctly.

I agree that missing players happens every year. But those are due to injuries as part of basketball. You don't have players holding out in normal years. Also, there are players who should have been missing due to injury now are available because of the long layoff. Anyway, the biggest problem is the unpredictable situation. Nobody knows what it will be like to play in such an environment. It may benefit some players and hurt some others.

Simply put, the factors that affect winning and losing are quite different from the normal time. That's why it is an asterisk.

I interpreted him of saying it's tough to win a championship. I guess he probably meant that it's tough in the existential sense, which I agree.
