Today's numbers are really alarming. Abbott better cancel holding that convention here in 2 weeks and start taking more action to stop the spread. Time for our Representatives to give us a choice to absentee vote if we fear catching the virus.

Classic Republican. Believe me, I would love less government regulation myself, that would be fantastic. The issue is that we cannot rely on human beings to make good choices unless thry are forced to make good choices. It sucks, because ultimately, his request for citizens to abide by CDC guidelines will be followed by half of the citizens, therefore, leading to infections continuing to increase.

I wish the human race would prove me wrong, but I keep learning time and time again the selfishness and ignorance of people. I wish Republicans would understand that we cannot allow health related decisions be optional to the public during a pandemic.

Freedom comes with a heavy cost at times.

"Let's allow our citizens to continue making sensible choices blahbitty blahbitty f***ing blah."

Don't give me a speed limit, you can mark the grease-stain I became with a flower-draped cross on the side of the highway.
So it is with Covid. "Your choice; choose well." "I choose....CORONA PARTY!"

What is your point? Really? Random stupid stats that mean nothing, and are false.

deb's flailing. Poor gal. Deaths matter. The US is on a great trend downwards. If the recent case rise isn't resulting in more deaths, that's a very good thing. I hope we could all recognize that, regardless of your political affiliation.

What planet are you on? You are delusional. We are talking about Texas here, and the Houston area.

What is your point? I really don't get you. I really don't. It's not all about deaths.

asymptomatic cases don’t concern me as much so long as the vulnerable are protected. Keep it out of the nursing homes, unlike how Andrew Cuomo did things.

Yeah, I don't understand his posts. It's far more than just being sick for many, and nothing anyone should take lightly.

This article is about the terrifying delirium patients are experiencing. They can have all types of detrimental consequences long after the virus lifts. I can't imagine being in a hospital with Coronavirus and feeling so scared and alone, with no family able to comfort me.

It means nothing to you that hospitalizations continue to increase? Clearly those folks aren't asymptomatic.

Which may takes years to achieve effective treatments.

I read that immunity is still an unknown. We are ~6M in and I don't think we know yet if immunity will last 3M, 6M, 1YR ... up to life.

If immunity last for a short period of time, said 1YR only and the virus remain very contagious and deadly, what would society do? It's an interesting academic exercise (and maybe even a real possibility).

I think some nations will not just go back to business as normal. I think they would develop a new normal. There could be a drive for affordable instant test - there is already an affordable test that claim to take 1min to get result with >90% accuracy. Imagine instant test widely used regularly on the population. That would be a game changer for test and isolate. Add in network real-time technology to trace (if that's even necessary once you have wide area real time testing)... potentials seem to be there.

And it seems to me... this type of infrastructure investment has to be pennies compared to the worldwide economic impact we are witnessing. Even if Covid19 fizzle out, it's an investment in the future. The next one will come.
