Very simple question - it is totally fine for Russia to put a bounty on US troops, so long as nobody collects...Right?

Attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder are totally not crimes. (eta: I know this is not a criminal matter, just an example)

And we don't know how many of the deaths prior to March were attributable to this bounty program.

eta2: nobody has mentioned injuries...one thing we've learned from the War on Terror is that we've gotten good at saving the lives of soldiers who would have died in earlier conflicts...but they're left with horrific trauma.

    lets not be dramatic!

no, I suspect the response will be a combo (1) duck and (2) fake news card.

Meaningful sanctions are a totally acceptable public response.

As far As the 2019 casualties intelligence can't confirm any were because of or resulted in bounties. So you can drop that also after reading the article

Wow... first, the report was separately reported and confirmed by the NY Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. And now the UK Sky News is also reporting it.

Second, the least reliable on this is the president himself, along with members of his own cabinet. And even their denials are vague and specious (trump claims his chief of staff wasn't "briefed"... yet that cos was not even his cos in March. There had to be some paper trail on this)... Congress needs to investigate and American deserves to know, before November.

Third, no one is denying the actual story, which again, is now confirmed by a British source. So even *IF* trump was not briefed (and hard to believe that part of the story), then an equally big problem for trump and his admin... WHY NOT? Did they not believe it was worth telling him? Or, did they worry about how he would react? Or... did they worry about what control russia has over him?

Whatever the story... America deserves the truth. And its clear they are not getting it from trump.

I think I'll wait a few days before I make my judgement or form my opinion.

NYT and WSJ don't fabricate sources. They have too many years of built reputation to squander it with blog and social media level fake news tactics. Whatever disagreements you have with NYT it's with their opinions and analysis of the underlying facts, not the underlying facts themselves.

Since @NewRoxFan presents all tweets as facts, I'm sure he'll believe this:

OH BULLSH!T!!! Their credibility is totally wrecked. They now censor Op-Eds. Their writers (no longer true journalists) are used to leak falsehoods and they allow themselves to be used.
