Stop testing asymptomatic people that aren’t sick. It’s just adding to the hysteria.

Are you unfamiliar with asymptomatic carriers?

    Seriously?

Have you been paying attention the last 3-4 months?

Not sure if that's high or low. Also not sure if any of the 16 had the virus before arriving in Orlando or if they got it since arriving.

I dunno, guys. If I was among the 286 players that don't currently have it, I'd be hesitant to be around anyone, bubble or not.

Yes, resuming or starting isn't the problem, problem is how they maintain safety throughout those 2 months, esp. once the playoffs start.

It’s going to be extremely tough for them to do it. I believe the 16 are all players. It’s going to increase when coaches an ancillary staff get tested.

I wouldnt. The virus to a healthy individual is basically nothing.

That can be the case, but it is definitely not always the case, and we can provide lots of articles on this. Even on this BBS, just a couple of days ago, @Nook told us about his 35-yr-old studly colleague who's now in the hospital. I've personally known of very healthy, not-old people hospitalized with the illness. And ask @what about it -- he had a whole thread about the impact on his family, including his healthy sister.

Plus, we have no idea what the long-term effects are. Not saying to be alarmist, but here's what we've tried already:
    • it's basically just the flu (damn, no)
    • it doesn't affect healthy people (oops, no)
    • it'll go away in the summer (hell to the no)
We need some new rationalizations to feel better about this. Maybe, this one: "the virus is weakening." I hope that's true, and compared to the others, it could be true.

All that said, if there was lots of good testing, would I play as an NBA player? Probably would, actually. The chances of an NBA player dying are very, very low. And if they can protect their family from it, then it would do everyone a lot of good to have some sports.

I think it's just more folks are at their physical peak in the summer, doing more sports and having a better immune system.

(oh no, could be wrong though)

Fauci or some expert has alledgedly hinted that a second wave is expected in October or November, alas, the new season is at stake IMO.
