frankly, i think states will have to start doing this for containment. This might be yet another hit on the economy with interstates travel restriction. Another reason why this crisis would have been much more effectively handled if the fed gov lead or coordinate a national response instead of 50 different responses.
Most competent countries have done a better than the US , to be frank. Its a combination of failure from the govt and lack of personal and social responsibility of the people. Not everyone is in position where they can behave optimally ( or closer to optimally) for the sake of mitigating the virus . The economic tradeoff is no longer palatable as the danger remains . People can only shelter and not work for so long . On the other hand, some people have refused to take even a modicum of precaution , and i'm not talking about isolated farmers.
TMC website has been good at showing stats and warnings for awhile now. I've been posting info from their site to the ridicule of people like bigtexxx. I choose to listen to the medical experts dealing with this first hand in our own city, and not our leader in charge and his toy soldiers spreading their opinions based on their own agendas. They aren't in the profession of saving lives, but more in the position of getting votes to hold their power.
The 97% is specific to the TMC. I'm not sure what the other hospital rates are although I'm sure they are not lagging behind. Many of us saw this **** coming. You do a half assed approach to something and it's going to bite you in the ass. I'm sure we will have to shut down part of our economy again, go through the same bullshit we just experienced from March - May and essentially crash our economy further in the process. I never opposed re-opening of the economies, but the lack of discipline and the constant issue of politics having to infiltrate everything pretty much undoes everything some of us worked hard to keep under control. Lincoln County, Oregon, requires most residents to wear face coverings in public settings, indoors or outdoors. The overwhelmingly White county will not require non-White residents to wear them if they fear harassment, the county said this month. It's one of the first counties in the US to exempt people of color from wearing masks to prevent racial profiling. Also exempt are people with disabilities or medical conditions whose breathing would be obstructed by a mask and children under 12, though children ages 2 through 12 are still encouraged to cover their faces. Lincoln County, home to nearly 50,000 residents, is almost 90% White and less than 1% Black, census data shows. But it's also home to the Siletz Reservation and a growing population of Latino residents. The county's directive diverges from Oregon Gov.
