Only real thing I did was flip AMD calls, I missed other entries on stocks so didn't want to chase.

He's not shorting anything. Icahn also bet on Hertz. I don't see the analogy.

the Herbalife episode underscores how reckless Ackman is.

not only was he wrong in shorting Herbalife,
after learning that deep-pocket Icahn had stepped in to squeeze him,
he doubled and then tripled down,

all futile attemps to stroke his ego, which ultimately
costing his co (needlessly) billions of $

I don't judge a person by 1 or 2 trades. You could just as easily say Ackman piled in during the market bottom and made a mint as being reckless, but it worked out. Carl Icahn was reckless piling into Hertz. I think he held onto Blockbuster until it damn-near disappeared. We can say similar things about Eddie Lampert and Sears. All these "activists" have dud stock picks. I think a lot of it is ego.

A more analagous situation to what Ackman's doing now was when he was part of the SPAC that brought Burger King public, so he's got experience doing this.

BTW, I'm not a fan of Ackman. I think he has some egotistical/kooky moments, but he's got his following, and I'm curious to see what they go after with all that money.

Yep bought a bit of shll@$16.40, alpn@$12. Will look to flip shll, waiting for more info on alpn deal with abbv. It's 60mn upfront with potential to rise to 800mil in royalties. They've got other drugs too and analyst price target has been upped to $22. May hold it awhile.

Liquidated my baba shares over delisting fears. Maybe I'll buy hkex listed ones in future. Sold puts and bought some underlying on virt too.

I closed a good percent of long positions Friday and Monday. I haven't gone net short as yet. I've made a good return this year as I went all in around March 15-17.

buying slightly otm PUTs on SPY as insurance/protection on portfolio.

while i may not need that insurance, but having it gives me that peace of mind

to say that my portfolio has had a nice run since mid-Mar would be understating it, i am analyzing SPY and VIX big time,
identifying support/resistance levels, toward buying that insurance policy

insofar as buying protective PUT, i find it almost seasonal.

    buying protective PUTs on SPY
    • ~ 2 wks before the tax return due date
    • ~ mid-July, after the holiday,
    • going into the state-of-the-union adress,
for this year, i will also buy it going into the presidential election

Thanks, i've been back testing against stocks I own, it really does seem I could have saved some pain/earned more if I used it.

add RSI, and MACD histogram to ur setting,

but if u can't take it, get out.

while i m bearish short-term, my play has defined my max risk to be $2.8. i still have 3+ wks to go to see DDOG fall below 85

Any exciting contracts? I should have just gone with my normal go to... MSFT. Tried to repeat some casino plays. I can't believe I did that to MSFT. Haha, oh well, I didn't do anything that crazy

I bought the ETF (not contracts) during the downturn a few months ago. If you're waiting for it to come down, keep in mind that something like 40% of its weighting is tech and healthcare, and something like 20% of it is Apple, Amazon, Google, Alphabet, Facebook, and Microsoft.
