First the guy moves to America, and then spends his entire career ******** all of Americans. The dude begged Trump to run and got egg on his face and now this.
He and a lot of people on the left said this. Oh the slippery slope doesn't exist. Well, they were wrong. And here we are. I bet you were of Oliver's thinking too.
I don’t question that there are stupid people in this world that do stupid things. We currently have one leading our country.
People removing a handful of statues that should arguably not be removed does not make people removing many, many statues that should definitely be removed a bad idea.
But Oliver wasn't and isn't wrong here. You don't protect Confederate statues because of what might happen to other statues. It isn't that a slope doesn't exist, but that you can choose to stop it later.
Didn't watch. But I don't care for John Oliver either. He gets to carefully select and position whatever content his writers decide to push.
99ers are the smartest people on the D&D too Wow, that's like we're smarter than everyone all the time everywhere
Dude that's every "news" show now, 6 companies own almost all media in the US. I wish I'd hear more about how to solve income inequality, getting major corporations to pay their fair amount of taxes, and the most important how to leverage our collective bargaining power to bring unions back which will increase wages, benefits, and job stability. We must stand together not as a racially separate people, but one in the same on the lower end of the socioeconomic class.
Was there a time when news discussed topics other than politics? Excuse my Millennial ignorance. I miss Vice News on HBO. I know it was left leaning but they covered some cool stories I would have never learned about on network news.
I find it odd that some people are so upset that monuments for people like Jefferson and Washington are being torn down. Jefferson and Washington owned over 1,300 black people between them. To some people that is a deal breaker and is kind of a big deal. I felt the high school student in the video put it best...... he is African American and seeing your school named after someone that owned African Americans is disheartening. It is hard to argue against that point.
Of course, I'm a millennial in name only but news wasn't always so political especially local news. In the small city I grew up in they just gave you the facts, good luck getting that today...everything has a twist or has to get approved depending on left/right bias before it airs; i.e. the Jeffery Epstein documents by ABC I believe.
Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin were/are some of the most common names black folks took out of respect to them. Tear down the confederate statues all you want but I think they've done enough good to far outweight the bad.
I love John Oliver, that guy f*cks. He's not perfect but he's making a ton of really great segments, definitely ***** on YouTubers like Tim Pool.
