"We [BLM] do have an ideological framework. Myself and Alicia in particular, are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super versed on sort of ideological theories." You didn't watch it... clearly.... and you didn't read The Invisible Man. You're on a roll today.
My thoughts on the reforms and actions needed to solve police authoritarianism and racism along with black poverty and crime are still completely the same and one person calling themselves a Marxist seems like nothing worth having a discussion over.
I respect that. I am not going to push you to care. It's your business. But now you know BLM is marxist at its ideological core. Have a nice day.
Dobro, my hat is off to you. A true open mind. Also since you all aren't even watching it I transcribed the good part that responds to critics saying they lack an ideological basis: "We [BLM] do have an ideological framework. Myself and Alicia in particular, are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super versed on sort of ideological theories."
So what? ALOT of people have read, studied, and believe that Maxism has positive aspirations. It takes a special level of ignorance to take some Marxist ideological bullet points, and immediately go to assumptions of dreams of Hitler like Dictatorship.... or even the current state of China. People need to strip the terminology out of the conversation and just talk about one thing and one thing alone.... Strong Man Authoritarianism. Strong man Autocracies can be labeled Socialists, Communists, and yes... even Democrats. They can call themselves whatever the hell they want. They can quote the Bible, or Marx, or the Koran. It doesn't matter. What matters is the form of government WITH THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE that either gives or does not give power the everyday citizen in the end. Constitutions are just words on paper. Laws are just words on paper. In the end, who holds the power. Our current ruling party and its cult followers are failing massively, and are fast tracking their way to classic Strong Man Authoritarianism. That is bad. Whether it be Communism, Socialism, or Democracy.... any of those government institutional frameworks that actually uphold the power to the citizens would be better than having the best looking Constitution or doctrine in the world that allows for Strong Man Authoritarianism.
When someone on the right brings in this European or Soviet threads the purpose is almost always to confuse and conflate what ignorant people associate with what they know about WW1, 2, Vietnam, and Cold War history with Liberal and Democratic voices here in America. Confuse and Conflate is basically the point. When you are NOT ignorant of the facts, and history you realize that Donald Trump and Trumpism is actually everything they have fears of that is ingrained in us in our educational system. It's the terminology and associations to Strong Man Autocrats in the history books though that triggers negative reactions. Trumpers on the Right use the terminology to conflate and confuse. In the end, people need to wake up and realize that Terminology of governance does not dictate the outcomes. You either have a system that through proper deployment is used to serve the people, or a system that is manipulated through improper deployment to serve one a$$hole at the top. Right now, our problem is the A$$hole at the top more than it is the system.
