Commissioner Rob Manfred: "This needs to be over. Until I speak with the owners, I can't give you a firm deadline.''

Manfred says he went to Arizona to make a deal with #MLBPA director Tony Clark, denying it was only a proposal: “I don’t know what Tony and I were doing there for several hours going back and forth and making trades if we weren’t reaching an agreement.”

Commissioner Rob Manfred: "We’re at the same place. We want to play. We want to reach an agreement. ...We're doing everything necessary to find a way to play, hopefully by agreement.''

The owners have basically said take it or leave it, to which I agree, and the players are not taking it. Think the point has been made so many times it's futile at this point. The players will need to cave as they have more to lose. But will they do it. Ticky tok.

They just shut down their training facilities.

This was obviously the big ?/concern well before any of the financial stuff started getting murky. And it remains the one variable that will keep things grounded given that no industry has a great plan in place, other than quarantine, when somebody tests positive.

The other leagues, while seemingly having less hurdles to get going, are going to face the same problems... magnified more on a basketball team with smaller rosters, but equally concerning on football teams with bigger rosters and more contact during the game/practice itself.

The Astros recently had one player test positive for COVID-19 at the team’s facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. “The silver lining is we followed procedure and there were no other positive tests,” GM James Click said.

The player exhibited minor symptoms and is recovering well. About 50 other people at the facility were tested and all were negative. There are about 7-8 players working out in West Palm Beach.

James Click said the Astros player who tested positive for COVID-19 in West Palm Beach was diagnosed "several days ago"

James Click said no other Astros employee in West Palm Beach has tested positive. Minute Maid Park remains open and operational to players who want to train.

I think we can go ahead and fire up the endless offseason thread. This season isn't happening.

MLB has told Players Association it will not make a counter-offer to union’s 70-game proposal, sources tell me and @EvanDrellich. League talking with owners this weekend to discuss its next options moving forward. Last MLB offer: 60 games. Could try to implement in 50-odd range.

So does James know the answer to the Question, To Right Click? Or to Left Click?

I don't think the season is gonna happen nor do I even want it to happen because the Astros scandal has me down on MLB with the way we were scapegoated but if it does they should go old school just for this season and have a 4 team playoffs, two in each league for the right to play in the LCS to maximize regular season games.

Is there a way they can play the games from home using Zoom technology and screens...similar to that golf game where you hit the golf ball at the screen? ;)

Virtual seats is an interesting concept. You could put a camera on the seat that the user can control. You can talk to and see your neighbors, and hear the crowd. Stadium is virtual, so you can change it whenever you want. Players can hear the crowd. You can secure any fan who wants to come, and you can seat people in the same seat.

I don't know how I feel about it. but I see it as plausible, and a possible money maker.

They said this last time too. There is about a 10,000 to 1 chance of dying if you are under 55 and are infected. The people that need to worry should worry, the rest now understand the risk and accept it.

I'd be curious where you got this statistic, given that no one actually knows the infection or death rate of this virus at this time.
