Rockets only non-champion team on the list: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/6/18/21293645/top-5-nba-teams-decade
that sh*t hurts. Always will along with with not seeing Hakeem vs Jordan in the Finals. Life is not fair sometimes.
honestly, that 17-18 squad should be the 2nd best team of the decade behind the 16-17 Warriors all-time great team that would’ve secured the legacies of Harden, CP3, MDA, and Morey will probably never get another chance like that again in the Harden era
So sad to see we actually had the defense first mentality back then and totally lost it. It definitely was the 2nd best team of the decade, 3rd best Rockets team ever.
The #5 team Rockets would have wiped that #4 Cavs team. Rockets should be #4 team of Decade. Rockets was one game and maybe 2 three point made out of 0 for 27 from winning a championship against an all time great time.
no he didn't. he said he thinks the chances of this team winning this year is similar to the 17-18 one. he never said it was actually better. Bc It isn't
Golden State Warriors, 2016-17 - 4 all-stars Miami Heat, 2012-13 - 3 all-stars Cleveland Cavaliers 2015-16 - 2 all-stars Miami Heat 2012-13 - 2 all-stars Houston Rockets, 2017-18 - 1 all-star & 9 missed calls
Only reason I agree is because I don't think Morey is around for much longer... But if you give Morey time he'll build a championship roster. Look at this... This was a f'n team man. Artest was still in his prime, had like 3 good years left, look at those wings? Then you had Scola? That was a team. They were beating up on the Lakers until Yao had his career ending injury and that was without Tmac. Had Tmac been healthy and Yao didn't get hurt no doubt in my mind they beat the Lakers and win a ring and Ron probably resigns to do it again. But I think Morey is probably gone and Fertita doesn't have the trust in him that Les did any way. EDIT: Also, lets not forget the bench had Aaron Brooks who was just exploding onto the scene, KYLE LOWRY, and Mutumbo playing some minutes. If you give Morey time he's going to build you a great team. I think if he gets more time than this year with Russ and Harden he'll do it again.
Liked everything but Morey not being back. Tilly is too cheap to drop Morey when he already paid him. Plus he has told world that Daryl is best GM in NBA, cannot walk that back on top of the co tract extension.
That game 7 will forever haunt rockets fans. 0/27, 7/44. If they even shoot 25% from three they probably win. And it hurts even more knowing that those Rockets would probably have handled the Cavs in the finals.
The Rockets would have beaten the Cavs in a maximum of 5. That team was a juggernaut only taken down by hamstring/refs/another all time great team. That team could compete for a championship in pretty much any era. Harden is a ****ing beast and is clearly a championship level player, **** the haters.
They actually should be higher than 5. And they would have been if they'd won the title that was flagrantly robbed from them. I think that team was fairly objectively the 2nd best team (behind only the 2017 Warriors) of the decade... In fact, I think you could make an argument that they were the single best, when healthy.
Probably in the minority in this, but I’ll take the 2018 team over any Rockets team in franchise history. That team was consistently dominant in the regular season and in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Outside of the 22-1 start, the back to back teams were never dominant. They just had the fortune of having one of the 10 best players of all time at his peak.
