Just for future reference: East of I-35 is a farm road (Westheimer is FM whaterthe****) West of I-35 is a ranch (Ranch Road whatever) There is great (well, there's lot's of it, but it's not great protein-wise) grass around Giddings and such...they get all the rain that we do not. Huh...I've been collecting fossils and arrowheads since I was a kid.
The things you learn.... the only thing I knew about Giddings was City Meat Market and Tootsie Tomanetz. lol.
Did you ever put your baseball/basketball/football cards into the spokes of your bike, so they made awesome noise as you drove around?
Whenever I say so. Not my problem. https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/get-to-know-me/n9794
Of course. I probably threw away so many good lineman cards back in the day. To me, if it wasnt an offensive player, it was trash. Then, I graduated to cool and crushed coke cans and put it in between my front spoke and tire to give me dirt bike sounds.
Can't make the map work properly... https://www.google.com/search?clien...l,[29.763337575034484,-95.57683796564247],15]
That is roughly a midpoint between Stratford and Memorial High Schools. Dragging the conversation back to farm types of things.... Has the heat taken out your garden or is it still hanging in there? I am picking yellow squash, cucumbers, green beans, okra and a few tomatoes. By the Fourth of July, okra will likely be the only thing still producing.
The conversation has reached a conclusion because I know nothing about Second Baptist beyond where it is at.
It was a great, great academic school if you wanted it.. Of course there was a bunch of bullsh!t once you got into HS. Ignore the baptist stuff, that was easy. Drove from Wilcrest and Briar Forest to that school, every day. My mom taught kids how to read, even if they couldn't, and my dad worked at the San Felipe National Bank right down the street, at least until '93 or so. Then it was downtown.
Decades ago when the area was less developed, Cy Fair (Cypress Fairbanks) High School was the first high school up that way. Then Jersey Village High School opened in the 70's as the area started to grow. Probably North of Jersey Village towards the race track is what I would call Fairbanks.
