I think Biden has painted himself into a corner saying it will be woman of color or at least letting that perception hang out there. if you reduce the pool this much you never know who survives the vetting.
I would be comfortable with Rice, based on what I know about her. I’d be more comfortable if I knew more than I do about how she feels about things that appeal to the Bernie/Warren wing of the party. While I don’t think we’ll see a repeat of 2016, where a significant percentage of Bernie’s camp were “anyone but Hillary” and proved it by not voting for her, it would be good to know how Rice feels about healthcare, for example. Unlike Senator Harris, who is not very popular with Black Democrats and independents, for whatever reason, I think Ambassador Rice would have broad appeal. Broad appeal among a large swath of the Democratic Party and independents. She’s impressed me every time I’ve seen her in interviews, post-Obama administration. What I don’t know is how Democrats on the Left would feel about her. Need more information.
Mistake post above. @Space Ghost, if a post on a basketball BBS can annoy you into voting Trump, you’re just looking for reasons to do that. I really don’t mean to offend you by saying this but I think you should just go ahead and vote for him
the results of her 2 state election suggest otherwise. No Cal's Harris's winning the US Senate was most impressive, beating a popular 10-term Latina Congresswoman from So Cal in her home court. in "enemy" territory, in the context of No Cal vs. So Cal, Harris won all the demographic groups, urban, rural, Blacks, Whites, independents, etc. not to mention Latinos
Outside of Harris I think everybody is on equal footing with Bernie voters. I like Rice because she is about business and is not that political, I think she would know what to do to carry out Biden's agenda. She is all ready the best candidate on foreign policy which is gonna be huge to get allies back on board. I like a VP who is not political and looking forward to 2024.
That's in Calif. She trailed Biden, Warren and Sanders with the black vote. So the suggestion is legit. https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...ican-american-vote-i-have-to-earn-the-support
Bernie voters are sore at Warren but no way she’s equal to other candidates—all moderates—on Biden’s shortlist. (Not counting Abrams because she’s not on the list of 6.) Warren’s politics and policies are almost identical to Bernie’s. Not all (less than desirable to Bernie picks than Bernie himself) are created equal. Bernie voters would take Warren or they wouldn’t take anyone.
Bernie voters carry grudges and most believe she is the reason he lost because they were in the same lane. Also the whole vote for a woman president thing. You were not around during the nomination race, the knives were out.
That and he didnt bother reading what I said. He just skipped straight to "he didnt agree with me, so he must be a racist trump support". As I also mentioned, people like @Batman Jones are the fringe extremist left. I have the same exact stupid conversations with those on the far right. Its like flipping a coin.
I wasn't just around for it, I was obsessed with it. And that snake stuff was as misogynist as hell. But [some] Bernie voters' biggest problem was that she didn't endorse Bernie when she dropped out, at which point a Bernie nomination was almost mathematically impossible and Warren couldn't have turned that around. Let's say they're still sore over that. Okay. Which of the other VP candidates endorsed Bernie? If you guessed zero, you are right. Reasonable people will understand that Warren was only trying to stay in the conversation so she could have a voice in a potential Biden administration. And she didn't still didn't endorse Biden until after Sanders endorsed Biden. A lot of Bernie voters were much angrier with Hillary in '16 than they are now with Warren. They believed she stole the election, the fight was longer and more bitter, and--with regard to Democrats--Hillary couldn't have been farther away from Bernie in terms of policy. 2016 Bernie supporters were so angry, for all of those reasons, that they stayed home or voted Trump. At worst, this time every one of them does the same. I doubt they all will since last time they didn't believe Trump could win and now they've seen what's happened since he did. Another difference between Hillary and Warren is that Warren wouldn't be on top of the ticket, though they hate Biden much more than Warren and many of them have convinced themselves that he's as bad as Trump. That subset of Bernie voters hate anyone that isn't Bernie and they won't vote Democrat because of the VP pick. They won't vote Democrat because it's Biden plus someone that isn't Warren. They won't vote or they'll vote for Trump. The rest of Bernie's voters, the grownups in other words, will be encouraged by a Warren pick because they care more about policy than personality or grudges that are common to every single presidential primary ever. In fact, every Bernie voter that supported him because of his policies (and not just his personality) would favor Warren by a wide margin over any other VP pick. Again, with the possible exception of Abrams. That doesn't mean I'm advocating for Warren to get the nod, because I'm actually not. No time to address that now, but I hope to soon.
Good lord. What on earth did I say about racism? Or about being a Trump supporter? I said that if my post is enough to irritate you into changing your vote, you're already close enough to voting Trump you might as well do it. Prior to that I said that if Kamala as VP makes you consider voting Trump, you probably weren't going to vote Biden anyway. To answer @Corrosion, I care very little about others agreeing with me on a BBS or "saying what I want to hear." I heard, and was responding directly to, what Space Ghost said. The idea that the extreme right and extreme left are like flipping a coin demonstrates my point better than anything I could have written. These arguments from you guys would make a lot more sense in a country that still featured moderates or centrists but it just doesn't.
I remember sitting in Sunday mass just before the 2016 election wondering if the priest would say anything about the election. I thought he might during the homily because he sometimes freestyled, but he didn't. It wasn't until the end of the mass just before the blessing that he simply stated, vote against abortion and for marriage between a man and a woman. Something like that. I'm sure it was the same, but on the other side, in the satanic churches you and other liberals go to. JK.
That post wasn't directed at you .... (what someone wants us to say) ... but in general I feel its factual in today's climate - If you don't agree with group X you are stupid. Case in point was that mayor from Minny who said no , I dont believe in disbanding / defunding the police - he was an instant goat for daring to disagree and apply an ounce of common sense. I agree , the alt left / right are one in the same kinda toxic. Thing is , right now its hard to define what the "alts" are and where sanity begins on either side. We've had 3+ years of stupid from both parties .... action / reaction and its been a disaster of epic proportions , driven a deep divide into our nation .... We have a political climate right now where the Alt's of both sides are driving the narratives. and their only solutions are extremist.
You misread me. Probably that's my fault for being unclear. When I left the D&D many years ago, it was for many reasons. Partly it was because I'd been banned for angry posts here. When I came back, recently, reluctantly, and temporarily, I pledged that I wouldn't allow myself to become too heated here. So I'll just say that the extreme left and extreme right are not at all similar and leave it at that. The truth is out there. Seek and ye shall find.
yes, just the facts, the actual election results in Calif. actually it is not. this poll was done in 2019, before Harris had distinguished herself in the impeachment hearing, as well as the Barr nomination hearing.
So many of you seem to be advocating for Susan Rice. Well, she is everything you might need in a running mate. Tough. Very intelligent. Which is why she is such a lightning rod for the FAUX News people. Probably too much of a lightning rod. Lady has a mouth on her, she talks some serious s***. But as a Veep she'd be bottled up.
As @jiggyfly mentioned, Rice would be a real asset for Biden in the foreign policy realm. Rice would have the credibility needed to speak for the president in meetings with world leaders desperate for a serious change back to sanity after the disaster the trump administration has been for our friends and allies. If not VP, she would make an excellent Secretary of State. It took me a bit to figure out that you were conversing with @Space Ghost. I don’t see his posts and for a good reason, but I won’t get into that here. I think Susan Rice would be “an adult in the room” and would come across that way in the campaign. She would be a surprise pick for the majority of the country that would get big coverage in the media. Suburban women and your typical independent voter would find her very appealing. Democrats across the board, in my opinion (and I’ve been a Democrat for many years now and used to go to county conventions here in Travis County), would be hard pressed to find fault with the pick. Rice is much younger than Joe, which doesn’t hurt, but she isn’t a kid, either. I like the idea. ....................................... Some more about Susan Rice. Her parents were immigrants from Jamaica. She’s 55 and married a student she met at Stanford, a Canadian, in 1992. They have 2 children and her husband is an ABC News executive. She graduated with a BA in history from Stanford, went to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, getting her masters and doctorate in foreign relations there. Served as Bill Clinton’s Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. Served as President Obama’s Ambassador to the United Nations for 4 years, and then his National Security Advisor during his second term. A great resume. She would be a perfect pick for Biden’s VP and from what I’ve read doing this poking around about Ms Rice, she is now the front runner for the job. Fingers crossed that he picks her!
